Danielle Collins underwent surgery for endometriosis in 2021. Before her surgery, Collins shared on social media that the problem is creating discomfort and pain in her life, affecting her performance. She added that one of her biggest goals is to have her own family, and due to this problem, her personal life is also affected. She withdrew from the Volvo Car Open to undergo endometriosis surgery.

WTA then stated that Collins had emergency surgery in April for endometriosis, a painful condition in and around the uterus that can cause excruciating pain during a woman's menstrual cycles, after experiencing incapacitating pain throughout her body at the beginning of the year. Collins has attributed her on-court success since Wimbledon to the procedure. She then won the first two titles of her career on clay and hard courts since she was able to play pain-free.
