Andre Drummond: A Brief Biography

Andre Drummond is an American professional basketball player who plays as a Center for the Detroit Pistons of the NBA. He attended the University of Connecticut. Drummond was drafted with the ninth pick in the 2013 NBA draft by the Detroit Pistons. He was a member of the United States team that won the gold medal at the FIBA World Cup in 2014.

Drummond averaged 7.9 points, 7.6 rebounds, 1.6 blocks, and 1 steal per game in his rookie season and was named in NBA All-Rookie Second Team. He was named as MVP after scoring 30 points with 25 rebounds during the NBA Rising Stars Challenge in 2014. On January 20, 2016, Drummond set an NBA record for free throws missed in a game when he missed 23 of 36 attempts.

In 2016, he was selected as an all-star for the first time. On July 15, 2016, Drummond re-signed with Detroit on a five-year, $130 million deal. On January 24, 2018, Drummond scored 30 points with 24 rebounds, 6 blocks, 4 assists and 3 steals against the Utah Jazz. Drummond finished 2017-18 season with averaging 15 points, 16 rebounds and 1.6 blocks per game. He led the entire league in rebounding in 2016 and 2018.
