Kyle Lowry: A Brief Biography
The professional American basketball player Kyle Terrell Lowry plays for the Miami Heat as a point guard in the NBA. Lowry entered the National Basketball Association in 2006 when the Memphis Grizzlies drafted him in the 2006 NBA draft. The 37-year-old basketball player also played for Houston Rockets and Toronto Raptors after appearing in three seasons for the Grizzlies. The NBA champion became NBA All-Star multiple times and an All-NBA Third-Team member in 2016. Before appearing in the NBA league, Kyle played high school and college basketball. He was a part of the U.S. men’s national team as well which won the gold medal at the 2016 Summer Olympics.

Kyle Lowry was born (March 25, 1986) and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. He belongs to a Christian family, including his parents and an older brother, Lonnie Lowry Junior. Kyle’s brother is 5 years older than him.
Kyle’s father, Lonnie Lowry Sr., left the family and started living 10 minutes away from the family’s home. Kyle Lowry was then only 7. The 2006 NBA draft brought the occasion for Kyle Lowry to enter the NBA league. He was selected by the Memphis Grizzlies with the 24th overall pick. He played only 10 games as a rookie and suffered a wrist injury in November 2006 in a game against the Cleveland Cavaliers. Later, Kyle returned for the 2007-08 season and participated in all 82 games for his team. After spending three seasons with the Grizzlies, Lowry was traded to the Houston Rockets in February 2019. It was a three-team deal that also involved the Memphis Grizzlies and Orlando Magic.
Kyle served as a backup point guard to Aaron Brooks in 2009-10. He posted a career-high 26 points, 6 rebounds and 10 assists on December 18, 2009 in a game against the Dallas Mavericks. Upon his contract expiration in June 2010, he signed an offer sheet worth USD 23.5 million with the Cleveland Cavaliers for four years. However, the Rockets matched Kyle’s offer quickly to retain him.
In the 2010-11 season, Kyle Lowry logged his career-high 28 points on December 3 in a victory against the Memphis Grizzlies. Kyle posted another career-high 36 points in a losing game against the Philadelphia 76ers on February 16. He also secured a career-high 7 three-pointers along with 32 points against the Phoenix Suns on March 8.
In July 2012, Kyle Lowry joined the Toronto Raptors and averaged 23 points and 7 assists during the first three games with the new franchise.
