Team India will lock horns with the hugely improving Afghanistan Cricket Team at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 on October 11.
This will be India's 2nd game of the World Cup, following their high-profile campaign opener against former champions, Australia in Chennai on October 08.
With the pitch in Delhi set to assist spinners, and Afghanistan boasting of them in abundance, it is set to be an enthralling affair, much like their previous two meetings.
On this note, here's a look at India vs Afghanistan Head-to-Head record in ODIs & at the ICC Cricket World Cup:
India vs Afghanistan Head to Head Record - ODIs
India and Afghanistan may have crossed paths just 3 times in ODIs, but it's given us enough evidence why they need to play more in this format.
While their first meeting ended in a one-sided win to Team India (by 8 wickets in 2014), the next encounter- in Asia Cup 2018- proved to be a mouth-watering one as the Mohammad Shahzad-inspired Afghan pulled off a tie against the mighty Indians.
Their last meeting took place at the 2019 World Cup, where Afghanistan came close to upsetting India but eventually fell short by 11 runs.

India vs Afghanistan Head to Head Record - ODI World Cup
The 2019 World Cup was the first time that India and Afghanistan locked horns at the quadrennial event, and it proved to be quite an enthralling affair.
On a two-paced surface, India meandered their way to 224/8 thanks to half-centuries from skipper Virat Kohli (67 off 63) and Kedar Jadhav (52 off 68).
Afghanistan looked like hunting it down, but were eventually denied (11 runs) by the ever-so relentless Jasprit Bumrah (2/39 in 10) and Mohammed Shami, who, en-route to his 4-fer, took a last-over hat-trick.
