About IND-W vs SA-W

The Indian Women will be making a comeback to the international scene for the first time since the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, which was held just before the COVID-19 pandemic. They will be hosting the South African Women, led by Sune Luus for a two-format bilateral series.

The Proteas Women are coming off a 3-0 ODI win and a 2-1 T20I win over Pakistan Women at home. Stand-in skipper Luus had impressed against Pakistan and is ready to lead the side yet again over the neighbours.

The India Women vs South Africa Women series will consist of 5 ODIs and 3 T20Is from March 7 to March 23.

History

The Indian Women's cricket have an upper hand over the visitors. In 23 ODIs against each other, the Indians have won 14 out of 23. Out of the 8 such games that have been played in India, the hosts have won 5. Sune Luus & Co. would be itching to play this format first to continue their winning streak from last month.

Even in the shortest format of the game, India Women are ahead in the head-to-head statistics with 7 victories in 10 games and 1 failing to produce a result. The two losses that they have suffered have come in India and South Africa.

Format

Due to the logistical and health concerns across the country because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the entire IND W vs SA W 2021 series will be played at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh.

Mithali Raj will lead the second-placed team in the ICC Women’s ODI Team Rankings in the five games scheduled on March 7, 9, 12, 14 and 17.

The South African women cricket will then face an Indian T20I side led by Harmanpreet Kaur that had reached the Finals of the most recent Women’s T20 World Cup held in Australia. The three T20Is will be played on March 20, 21 and 23.
