Hideki Matsuyama is a Japanese professional golfer born on February 25, 1992. Matsuyama attended Tohoku Fukushi University and won five amateur titles between 2010 and 2012. As an amateur, he also won a professional event on the Japan Golf Tour, the 2011 Mitsui Sumitomo Visa Taiheiyo Masters. The following year, he turned professional and won four more events before joining the PGA Tour in 2014. In his rookie season, he claimed his first PGA Tour victory at the 2014 Memorial Tournament, defeating Kevin Na.

Matsuyama represented Japan at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and the 2024 Paris Olympics, where he won a bronze medal. In the 2020 Olympics, he finished tied for third but was defeated in a seven-way playoff. As of February 2025, he has 20 professional wins, including the 2021 Masters Tournament and two World Golf Championship titles in 2016 and 2017.
