That's that for Group C as we have the two teams that will be advancing into the next stage. Afghanistan will now be taking on the hosts in St. Lucia and that will be a mouthwatering clash between two sides, who have been clinical so far in the tournament. This is Lavil Saldanha alongside Karthik Raj signing off. Keep following Sportskeeda and join us at 7.00 pm for the clash between Ireland and co-hosts USA. We hope you enjoyed our coverage and look forward to seeing you sometime soon. Until then, it is goodbye from our side. SEE YA!
Rashid Khan (Afghanistan captain) : Felling great, it is a big step in qualifying for the Super 8. They executed things beautifully. Someone like Fazal who is taking wickets sets up a strong base for us. In T20, if the batter attacks, we need to attack back harder with the pitches helping us. The openers have given us good starts and today was a good opportunity for the other guys to spend some time in the middle. That is the beauty of playing franchise cricket. The guys who have played in St. Lucia can share their ideas about the venue. Everyone has the skill and ability to settle to the conditions and hopefully win the game
Assad Vala (PNG captain): They are a very good team, to give them 4 easy wickets, we never had a chance. My run out was a bit lazy. It has been challenging to score runs for every team. We spoke about giving ourselves a chance in the middle. We could not execute our plans and they are a very good side. Very happy with the bowling, their skill and execution have been good. It is a challenge getting exposure for quick bowlers at associate level and need opportunities against higher ranked teams
Fazalhaq Farooqi (Player of the Match): First of all, want to congratulate all the people of Afghanistan for qualifying to the Super 8. I didn't play much in the IPL and came late but I know how to carry my body. Just tried to follow my strengths. Have to keep it simple and give our 100%
Fazalhaq Farooqi has been named as the 'Player of the Match'
Afghanistan win and send New Zealand crashing out in the Group Stages! This is a statement win for Afghanistan who continue to have a stellar tournament. They are unbeaten since March in this format and they continue to steamroll past teams.
The chase started off on a worrying note for the Afghans, who lost Ibrahim Zadran cheaply. Gurbaz, this edition's highest run-getter, smashed a six but then was dismissed to a ball that kept low. Azmatullah Omarzai looked to go big, but lost his wicket, playing an expansive strike on a tricky strip.
Seasoned campaigners, Gulbadin Naib and Mohammad Nabi joined forces in the middle when things looked tricky. They started off slow, but Naib took the onus of scoring runs and ended unbeaten, capping off the chase for his side and ensuring that there are no more hiccups.
PNG had a paltry total, but they managed to sweat Afghanistan, who were looking to chase it off in a canter. Semo Kamea, Alei Nao and Norman Vanua picked up a wicket each but that wasn't enough. Their fielding was subpar at the start of the chase and had they managed to save runs early on, they could have managed to hold Afghanistan for a bit longer.
Let's now here from the Player of the Match and the captains
15.1 Chad Soper to Gulbadin Naib, SIX! AFGHANISTAN ARE THROUGH TO THE SUPER 8! Full outside-off, Naib powers it down the ground for a maximum to help his team seal a seven-wicket win!

14.6 Alei Nao to Gulbadin Naib, full and slow outside-off, Naib walks down the track and swings hard but he misses as the ball almost rolls along the pitch. The keeper has a shy at the stumps and misses while the batters sneak a bye.
14.5 Alei Nao to Mohammad Nabi, low full-toss angling in, Nabi tucks it to the right of mid-on. Single taken.
