Naveen-ul-Haq made his IPL debut in 2023 for the Lucknow Super Giants. Naveen took 11 wickets in 8 matches in IPL 2023, including a four-wicket haul against the Mumbai Indians in the Eliminator of IPL 2023.
He was infamously caught off-guard for his spat with the Royal Challengers Bengaluru opener Virat Kohli in IPL 2023, but it all ended cheekily when Kohli shook his hands with Naveen in a league game between India and Afghanistan in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.

Naveen-ul-Haq made his ODI debut on September 25, 2016, against Bangladesh in Mirpur and his figures were 10-0-62-1 as Afghanistan lost the match by 7 runs. Playing just 7 ODIs for Afghanistan, Naveen returned to the ODI setup after a gap of two years as he was named for the ICC CWC 2023. However, before the World Cup, the 24-year-old had announced that he was going to retire from ODI cricket after the culmination of the World Cup. Naveen took 22 wickets in 15 matches with a career-best figures of 4/42.
Naveen-ul-Haq T20I Career
Naveen-ul-Haq made his T20I debut against Bangladesh on September 24, 2019, at Chattogram and impressed everyone with his returns of 4-0-20-2. He represented Afghanistan in the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 and 2022 and is all set to represent the Asian team for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024. The 24-year-old has been impressive in the shorter format of the game, picking up 46 wickets at an average of 22.08.
