Commentary

That brings us to the end of our coverage for this series. Australia head into the T20 World Cup with most bases covered and the team's confidence on a high. Meanwhile, New Zealand have now lost 10 T20Is in a row and have some soul searching to do before the marquee tournament in UAE, where their first match would be against India. Alyssa Healy [Australia Captain]: A great result. This is what we wanted to do coming into the series. Ellyse Perry and Tahlia McGrath didn't get to bowl today, we are very lucky to have plenty of options. Not many of us played cricket in the UAE. The wickets there are playing nicely with some high scoring and low scoring games as well. So looking forward to the tournament and playing different oppositions.

Sophie Devine [New Zealand Captain]: It is always disappointing losing like that. But full credit to Australia for the way they played. A big shoutout to Georgia (Plimmer) for notching up a fifty against the best team in the world. We know that she has the capability and we have to back her. We don't have the depth like the other countries have and you have to back your players. To bat through and fight till the end against Australia is a big positive.

Ashleigh Gardner (Player of the Series): I am surprised. This could've gone to other players as well. Credit to the team and we have so many things to work on going into the WC. Fantastic to see the people coming and producing good performances. Darcie didn't play much but had a good impact in the second match. Wareham chips in at no.3 and played well. There were few inside edges and outside edges. You need luck in Cricket sometimes. The ball is coming out nicely and I have to work on few things. A lot of players haven't played there, so it's going to be a challenge for us. World Cup always poses a threat while playing against four different oppositions but we have to get over the line

Georgia Wareham (Player of the Match). It's good fun and moving at no.3 is to play according to my strength in the powerplay. It's a great opportunity for us to get into the middle and express ourselves. It's a plan at the start of the series. When a chance arises in the powerplay. Looking at our line up, anyone can play that role but when an opportunity arises for me, I have to relish on that

In the end, the Aussies were just too good. They experimented with their batting order today. Faltered towards the end of what should have been a comfortable chase with the scoring rate in check and the ball being as wet as it was. Yet, they hold their nerves and find a way to come out on top, like they usually do.

The star of the show was Georgia Wareham, who helped them pulled things back in the first innings after New Zealand had gotten off to a good start. Then, in the second innings, she entertained one and all with an effervescent cameo of 26. Sutherland's bowling and the sturdy partnership between Gardner and Perry were the other positives for the hosts.

For New Zealand, a bunch of questions still to be answered as they get on the flight to UAE today in the evening. But they would be particularly happy about Plimmer's maiden fifty and patches of brilliance shown by Carson, Mair and Jonas with the ball. Though, it seems for them to do well in the upcoming marquee tournament, the likes of Devine, Bates and Kerr will indeed have to do the heavy lifting.
