That is all we have from this thrilling contest then. No better way to start the series off and this sets the tone perfectly for the rest of the tour as well. This has been Prakhar and myself (Rishab) as we wrap things up for this game. More action to come and stay tuned to catch every bit of it. Until next time, goodbye and have a wonderful evening!
What a contest we have witnessed. Chasing 216 for a win, Bangladesh were down and out, in all sorts of trouble as they were reduced to 45/6 courtesy that early burst from Fazalhaq Farooqi who ripped apart their big guns. From a nightmare of a start to going on and winning the game, Bangladesh have indeed come a long way within this contest.
None would have imagined Afghanistan to start the way they did and then for Bangladesh to comeback the way they did, which was even better. A real display of grit, determination, hunger and fighting spirit from the young pair of Mehidy Hasan and Afif Hossain, stitching a record unbeaten 174-run stand. They took their time in the middle, made sure they stayed out there, kept the runs coming and absorbed the pressure in such a calm and composed manner, against a quality attack. Lots to learn from the duo indeed for everyone watching out there.
This has been one of the most brilliant comebacks you will ever see and this win is surely going to boost Bangladesh big time going ahead as a team. Afghanistan, on the other hand, will be very disappointed with the way this game ended eventually. They had it completely under control with those early wickets and Bangladesh under tremendous pressure. Some thinking for them to do going into the next game as to where they lost this one really.
With that, Bangladesh are up 1-0 in the three-match series. That means, the next game will be a do-or-die game for the visitors while the hosts will look to secure the series!
Tamim Iqbal: Honestly I did not think we would win. I would be lying if I said I thought we will win. I am very happy the way the two youngsters played. No words to describe that and I am very proud. I have always told Afghanistan have a brilliant bowling attack. Lots to learn from how these two handled it. I hope this is the starting for them and they win us more games.
Mehidy Hasan Miraz is the Player of the Match
Hashmatullah Shahidi: I think we had a good start but their batters played very well and did not gave a chance to us. It was incredible. We were at least 30 runs short. We started well with the ball but we need to give credit to their batters. We have two more games and we will try to come back stronger.
That is that then! What a historic and memorable chase this has been. Bangladesh were down and out and boy what a partnership this has been from Mehidy and Afif. One of the best fightbacks you will ever see in cricket. A victory that the hosts are going to remember for a long time to come. Bangladesh win by 4 wickets. Unbeaten stand of 174 runs!
48.5 Gulbadin Naib to Afif Hossain, FOUR AND WIN FOR BANGLADESH! Good length ball wide of off stump. Hossain whacks the ball down to deep mid-wicket and seal a great win for his side.
48.4 Gulbadin Naib to Afif Hossain, no run, slow low full toss on off and middle stump. Hossain comes on his front foot and blocks the ball.
48.3 Gulbadin Naib to Afif Hossain, 2 runs, SCORES LEVEL! Short and wide. Hossain cuts the ball over backward point for a couple.
48.2 Gulbadin Naib to Mehidy Hasan Miraz, 1 run, slow good length ball on middle stump. Mehidy Hasan drives the ball down to long-on for a run.
