Right so, the Aces have romped home with 4 wickets remaining here and they've clinched an absolute nerve wrecker of a contest. They were in a precarious position at the halfway stage with just 47 runs on the board and were four wickets down. However a good partnership between Will O'Donnell and Sean Solia and then between Solia and Ben Horne got them home. Horne was the star for them as he played an unbelievable knock of 54 of just 24 balls. In a low scoring game, it was his knock that proved to be the real difference between the two sides.

The Canterbury bowlers managed to keep things tight for the larger part of the innings, but they lost their lines in the second half and kept leaking the runs. Once Ben Horne came hard at them, they really seemed to run out of ideas and the game just slipped away from their hands. Henry Shipley was the pick of the bowlers for them as he managed to get 2 wicket for 26 while the veteran Todd Astle was at his best as he gave away just 23 runs from his four overs and managed to get 1 wicket.

Overall we've witnessed an absolute thriller of a contest and it could have gone either way. Both the sides had their moments in the game and dominated for a decent part of the game but in the end it was Ben Horne, who was unreal and held his nerve to get the Aces over the line. With this win, the Auckland Aces have opened their account in the points table and they will be really happy with this effort. The Canterbury Kings will have to regroup quickly and get their act together from here on.

Angus Mckenzie did get that breakthrough eventually although it might just be a little too late! The game will eventually go into the last over but it's clearly the Aces who are favorites from here on.
