Niroshan Dickwella (Colombo Strikers captain): I thought we gave away 20 runs too much after starting off nicely. Our batters made a good match of it but some dropped chances in the first innings cost us the game.

Kusal Mendis (Dambulla Aura captain): We batted really well in the first six overs. The wicket was a bit slow early on but then it played beautifully. The bowlers were tremendous right through the 2nd innings.

Colombo fall short in the end. They started on a strong note with Niroshan Dickwella flying off to three boundaries in his eight deliveries. He fell while mistiming his pull towards the deep midwicket fielder. But, Babar Azam quickly took over the mantle from there. Scoring boundaries for fun on the off side with his crisp timing, Colombo raced off to 61-1 by the end of the powerplay.

A 62 run partnership blossomed between Babar and Pathum Nissanka. But, things went southill when Noor Ahmad came into the picture. The umpire signaled not out but a right replay overturned the decision as Azam missed out on his half-century. Nissanka played too slowly by absorbing 28 balls and scoring only 22 runs.

Many thought the game was over, but Nuwanido Fernando scored fours and sixes all over the park. The required run rate kept on climbing. From 14 it went above 16 slowly. Hayden Kerr's 19th over ended all hopes as he conceded only four runs with the equation down to 31 off 6.

Chamika Karunaratne scored two sixes and a four but it proved to be too little too less in the end.
