That'll be it from us in terms of cricketing coverage for the day. The Desert Vipers and the Gulf Giants, arguably the two best teams in the ILT20, will square off against each other for the ultimate prize on Sunday. Needless to say, we'll be back with plenty of cricket tomorrow before we get to Sunday, for this great game never stops! This is Rajarshi, signing off on behalf of myself and Mohul. Good night!
James Vince, player of the match and captain of Gulf Giants: I was just trying to be composed and tried to take the game as deep as possible. Chris Jordan has been fantastic with the ball throughout this tournament. The conditions here over the last couple of games have been a little different. We now have a chance to put it right against the Vipers on Sunday. Excellent atmosphere here, and hopefully, we will see the crowd cheering for us again on Sunday!
Kieron Pollard, captain of MI Emirates: We did not get off the best of starts and that was perhaps where we should have done better. In the field as well, we put down too many chances, and that is not becoming of a champion side. We did not deserve to win while the Giants did. They played really well and deserve to be in the final. Really enjoyed coming over and playing in this tournament.
Match summary: Gulf Giants won the toss and opted to bowl
MI Emirates 1st innings 167/5 (20 Overs) Kieron Pollard 57*(35) | Chris Jordan 2/25 (4)
Gulf Giants win by 4 wickets with 11 balls to spare and qualify for the final
There were concerns about James Vince's form going into the knockouts, but the Gulf Giants captain seemed to save his best for a special occasion! The Sussex-man ensured he batted through and help his team through the line and onto the final! The Gulf Giants had a grip of things going into the second innings, and a strong first six overs got them right on top!
Vince and Chris Lynn saw out the first two overs, and then Vince went right after Trent Boult. The New Zealand left-armer suddenly could not find movement off the air having troubled the openers in the first over, and that set the tone for the chase! The MI Emirates went into desperation mode as the ball kept flying all around. Pollard brought Rashid Khan into the attack within the powerplay, but it didn't have any effect on the game for the Emirates as Lynn swept his way out of trouble!
A slower one from Bravo was smacked by Chris Lynn straight to the palms of Mousley at cover. The MI Emirates had another one soon after, with Rashid going past Colin de Grandhomme's attempted cut shot with a google. With the required rate by their side, Vince and Gerhard Erasmus then went on to knock it around for ones and twos, shortening the equation bit by bit, and found the boundaries on occasions as well.
A double-strike from Fazalhaq Farooqi in the 13th over made things interesting all over again, but then, David Wiese joined Vince, and the ship was steadied once again. The duo then went on to get it close to a run-a-ball before Wiese, trying to get things done with in a hurry, holed out off Rashid Khan. It was left to Brathwaite to take the game away from the MI Emirates in the 17th over, and a couple of overs later, the Gulf Giants were there! Presentations next....
It got a tad bit tricky towards the end, but the Gulf Giants, hot favourites throughout the competition, now have a place in the final!
19.0
18.1 Fazalhaq Farooqi to James Vince, FOUR! CAPTAIN JAMES VINCE STRIKES THE WINNING RUNS! Fullish and a tad wide outside off. Vince manages to loft it extravagantly over extra cover for a boundary! The Gulf Giants beat the MI Emirates by 4 wickets and now join the Desert Vipers in the final of this competition on Sunday night!
Fazalhaq Farooqi (3-0-23-2) is back into the attack
Chris Jordan, RHB, comes to the crease
Anti-climax! Brathwaite looked to put this leg stump half volley away for the winning runs, but his fortunes were completely different!
