That brings us to the end of our coverage for this BBL encounter. You can switch tabs to follow the South Africa-India third ODI which is currently underway. But for now, this is me (Arya Sekhar Chakraborty) bidding adieu. Cheers!
Paul Walter (Player of the Match): Yes I am loving it. Probably a bit hot out there but it's okay. I wanted to accelerate at the back end and it worked. Went to Melbourne, got engaged so it's been a big couple of wickets. Yes my fiance is based in Melbourne. To play here for the first time was a great thing. I think it's been made a lot, just staying around the boys. Will go down the coast for Christmas and has a nice time with my fiance.
Brisbane Heat won by 6 wickets (with 11 deliveries to spare)
Matt Renshaw 49*(37) | Paul Walter 3/37(4) Jake Fraser-McGurk 55(23) | Mujeeb Ur Rahman 2/27(4)
It turned out to be a rather comfortable win for the Brisbane Heat as they stormed past the Melbourne Renegades by 6 wickets to register their 3rd win of the tournament. Josh Brown and Colin Munro began emphatically, racing off to 27 in less than two overs until Mujeeb Ur Rahman trapped Munro right in front of the stumps. Brown also departed very next ball and the Brisbane Heat needed someone to steer the ship. Out came Matt Renshaw and in the company of Nathan McSweeney tried to resurrect the ship. The latter was dismissed in the 6th over and the pressure was well and truly back on Brisbane.
It was a sensible partnership between Matt Renshaw and Sam Billings which got Brisbane back on track. Billings in particular played some gorgeous shots over extra cover and looked at complete ease against the spinners. The 72-run partnership laid the foundation for Brisbane and there was no looking back. Billings was dismissed by Zampa but by then, he had ensured that the required rate was well within reach. The power surge absolutely dashed any hopes for the Renegades as Paul Walter went berserk and smashed Kane Richardson for 20 runs before taking the attack to Zampa. Eventually, Brisbane Heat reached the target with 11 deliveries to spare. Mujeeb bagged a couple for the Renegades while Kane Richardson and Adam Zampa chipped in with a wicket each.
18.1 Tom Rogers to Matt Renshaw, a comfortable victory for the Brisbane Heat by 6 wickets. Slices away the fuller-length delivery a shade outside off, over the cover-point region and takes a single to finish the match.
Tom Rogers is back into the attack.
