2020-21
The Renegades suffered a disastrous season as they could only manage 4 wins in 14 outings, thereby finishing at the last spot in the points table.
2021-22
The following season proved to be no better as the beleaguered Renegades discovered new levels of lows, despite the head coach Michael Klinger and captain Aaron Finch giving up their positions after a wretched experience last year.
Nic Maddinson was appointed Finch's successor, but the end result remained the same as the Renegades once again finished with the dreaded wooden spoon. This time, they managed 1 fewer win in 14 outings than the 2020/21 season- 3 wins & 10 defeats with 1 game ending in a No Result.
2022-23
The ongoing season has been a middling one for the Nic Madinson-led Melbourne Renegades. As of December 31, 2022, they had won 3 games out of 6.

Fanbase
The Renegades’ fanbase from home gets divided into two franchise. The Melbourne Stars being the more successful franchise has managed to capture a lot of fans who share their home city with the Melbourne Renegades. Their dynamic squads over the years have not helped MR keep a loyal fanbase. Even then, they can say that they are doing well considering the social media fans they have acquired.
Overall, the Melbourne Renegades have 151K followers on Twitter and 163K followers on Instagram.

Melbourne Renegades 2022/23 squad - Players to watch out
Nic Maddinson
The skipper started the 2022-23 campaign on a glorious note as he smashed a 49-ball 87 to help the Melbourne Renegades beat the Brisbane Heat in their season opener.
But, he has managed to add just 42 runs in his next 5 innings so far (as of 31st December 2022). The Renegades will desperately hope for their captain to regain his touch as we approach the business end of the tournament.
Aaron Finch
The former skipper might be averaging 42.75 after 6 innings but his strike rate of 106.21 leaves a lot to be desired. If Renegades have to go all the way in this season, they will need Finch to beef up his strike rate to at least 130.
Akeal Hosein
The West Indian left-arm orthodox is enjoying his time in the Big Bash League, as is evident from his bowling figures. With 12 wickets in 6 games @ 12.08, Hosein is currently the joint 2nd highest wicket-taker of the season and certainly the leader of the Melbourne Renegades attack.
