Matthew Scott Wade is an Australian Left-handed batsman and wicketkeeper. He was born on 26 December 1987 in Hobart, Tasmania, Australia. He is colour blind and even battled testicular cancer and conquered it.
Wade led Australia as a captain for the first time in an international cricket match in December 2020. Following the final Sheffield Shield match of the 2023–24 season, he announced his retirement from red ball cricket on the 15th of March 2024.

Australian cricketer Matthew Wade is famed for his career achievements and success in the World Cup tournaments. He has won many honours and is currently the top-ranked test bowler in the world. Known for his dynamic leadership, Cummins has played for a number of domestic and regional cricket teams. He was a member of the Australian side that won the 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup and the 2021 ICC Men's T20 World Cup. Cummins was the winning captain of both the 2021–23 ICC World Test Championship and the 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup.
Matthew Wade Domestic Career
Wade played cricket, in addition to Aussie Rules Football till the age of 19. He participated in the 2006 Under-19 Cricket World Cup. He was the vice-captain of Tassie Mariners in the TAC Cup in Aussie Rules.
He represented Tasmania in one List A match and then moved to Victoria for the 2007–08 season to try his luck. He soon made his place as Victoria's first-choice keeper, and was thus in 2010, selected in the Australia A side.
After Wade moved to Victoria in the 2007–08 season, he established himself as the state's first choice wicket keeper ahead of Adam Crosthwaite.
In the 2008–09 season, Wade scored his maiden first-class century. He made a very important contribution to Victoria's win in the 2009–10 during the Sheffield Shield final against Queensland, when he batted at no. 6 with the team at 60 and scored 96 runs for the team. Victoria won the match with a whopping 457 runs and Wade was made man of the match.
Wade scored 152 in February 2015 for Victoria in the Sheffield Shield which was his highest first-class score.
Wade decided to return to his native state of Tasmania for family reasons before the 2017/18 season. With Tim Paine on the Test team, Wade took over as first-choice wicketkeeper, but when Paine returned from national duty, Wade was picked as a specialist batter. Wade was also moved from the Melbourne Renegades to the Hobart Hurricanes of the Big Bash League. He was nominated to the Sheffield Shield team of the year in March 2018.
Midway through the 2018/19 season, Wade was chosen captain of the Tasmanian side and the Hurricanes when Cricket Tasmania decided to remove George Bailey to focus on his batting performance.
In April 2022, he was picked up by the Birmingham Phoenix for the 2022 season of The Hundred in England. In December 2022, Wade was picked by the Karachi Kings as their Platinum Category round choice at the 2023 PSL draft

Wade joined the Delhi Daredevils in January 2011 and went on to play three games for the team during the 2011 Indian Premier League. The Gujarat Titans purchased him at the Indian Premier League 2022 auction in February 2022. In 2011, he made his IPL debut. Matthew Wade ODI Career
Wade was the limited overs wicketkeeper in the Australian team in 2011–12 season during the match against West Indies. Wade was picked up to the Australian One Day International squad for the 2011–12 Commonwealth Bank Series following the T20I series. At the Melbourne Cricket Ground, he scored 67 runs off 69 balls against India to win the Man of the Match award on his debut. He cemented his position as Australia's preferred limited-overs wicket-keeper during the series while often opening the batting.
In the opening ODI of a five-match series against Pakistan on 13 January 2017, Wade hit his first ODI century, coming off 100 balls. He scored 100 runs on the last ball of Australia's innings, and he made the effort while the team was struggling early in the innings at 5 for 78.
He maintained the strike to reach the hundred on the second-last ball when he scored two runs off a ball fumbled into the infield. Wade requested a review after being tagged out LBW earlier in his inning, and the call was reversed. In lieu of an ailing Steve Smith, he was selected Australia's ODI captain for their series against New Zealand on the 27th of January 2017. He was ruled out of the team and deemed unfit for the opening ODI. For the game, Aaron Finch was designated the acting captain. Wade was ruled out of the series before the second ODI of the series because of a back injury; Finch captained the team for the remaining games.
Wade was added to Australia's World Cup squad in July 2019 to fill in for Usman Khawaja, who was forced to withdraw with a hamstring injury that prevented him from playing in the tournament's knockout stages.

Before the 2020–21 season, Wade received a central contract from Cricket Australia in April 2020.

Wade was a skilled young football player who chose to pursue cricket instead of football since he was too small to play the game professionally at 170 cm. Even though he was diagnosed with testicular cancer at the age of 16, it took two rounds of chemotherapy for him to overcome the disease. His sheer tenacity helped him overcome the illness and shine for his nation in the international format of the game.
He made a spectacular comeback and proceeded to play for Australia in the 2006 U-19 World Cup.
