Match summary:
Morrisville Samp Army win by 6 wickets with 4 balls to spare
Moeen Ali 39*(15) | Salman Irshad 3/12 (2) Andre Fletcher 52*(27) | Imad Wasim 2/11 (2)
The Samp Army pace this run-chase to perfection! Unlike the Deccan Gladiators, their middle order stepped up to the task, and provided them with a vital finish - one that helps them qualify for the playoffs! The ploy to send Janat ahead of Jason Holder pays off immensely - the Afghan veteran came in just when Moeen Ali was struggling a bit, middled a few, got vital boundaries, and finished the game off!
Imad Wasim had the Gladiators in the game early on with a tidy spell, picking up a couple of quick wickets. Both du Plessis and Gous weren't able to get going, and the Samp Army were in a bit of bother early doors. Wickets tumbled, but once Moeen got going, the Morrisville Samp Army were right back in the game.
The 20-run 6th over from Boult worked as a tide-turner eventually, as Moeen hit him over the leg side repeatedly. Ibrahim Zadran was struggling at the other end, his departure came as a blessing in disguise for the Samp Army. Janat got in on the act, clubbed a few right off the middle, and the Samp Army were soon home and dry.
9.3 Zahoor Khan to Karim Janat, wide, Samp Army are home and dry, and they and the New York Strikers are through to the playoffs! Zahoor goes for another bouncer this time, ends up spraying it down leg as Janat moved across
9.2 Zahoor Khan to Karim Janat, FOUR! The scores are level! Slower bouncer with plenty of width, Janat waits for it, has a slash, and gets it over the man at short third! Wood chases, but the ball wins the race!
9.1 Zahoor Khan to Karim Janat, FOUR! Full on off, Janat throws his hands at it, and ends up drilling it past the bowler and bisecting the gap down the ground!
Zahoor Khan (1-0-13-1) is back into the attack
Final over then. Samp Army's ahead at the moment - can they mop this up quickly, or is there a twist in the tale!
