That is is from this game. This is Probuddha Bhattacharjee signing off from this game on behalf of my co-commentator Soorya and Rundransh. Stay tuned on Sportskeeda for more exciting action from the world of cricket. Good Night for now!!!!
Kiran Navgire (UP Warriorz): Yeah, I am pretty good. I got enough time to recovers after the last match. (On whether she would have opened if V Dinesh was fit) They told me that I might open and I was mentally prepared for that. No, there is no such affinity in me for slower bowlers. I just look at the deliveries and play accordingly.
Alyssa Healy (UP Warriorz Captain): Obviously we are happy to get ourselves on the board and that too against a strong team like Mumbai Indians. I am really happy how the girls made a comeback after the disappointing night last time. Well, apparently Kiran walked out to the boss last night and said that she wants to open. She has made a strong case of why she should be doing the job for us. Apparently not (on whether Navgire would have opened), but things happen for the good. We will celebrate with the cake and Sophi Ecclestone is pretty excited about that.
Time for the post match presentation...
Deepti Sharma: It's a good feeling. It didn't look like a big score. We knew we have a good batting lineup, sometimes we do well, sometimes we don't. Today, Kiran and Healy gave us a really good start. I don't know whether Vrinda would have opened if she was fit. The scenario would have been different. Today, we'll just focus on enjoying and celebrating this win. (On improvements) We can do better in death bowling.
Nat Sciver-Brunt (Mumbai Indians captain): About yesterday evening (On when she found out about taking over captaincy). We pulled up with a couple of niggles after the last game. Quick turnaround but we were prepared. It comes out nicely under the lights, we just didn't have enough runs on the board. There are a lot of batters in our line-up who are playing pretty good. No panic stations yet. I don't think about the bowling lineup. We will speak about adapting to people coming down and attacking you. (Issy Wong) She did really well. We thought we could squeeze them a bit more but Grace and Deepti did well. It'd be good to put up a good performance against RCB, looking forward to it.
Match End!!!!
UP Warriorz have scored 163/3 in 16.3 overs. The Warriorz have defeated the Mumbai Indians by seven wickets with 21 balls remaining in the game.
What a show by Navgire!!! She literally lit up Chinnaswamy with her big hitting. The UP Warriorz pick up their first points, courtesy of her fiery knock. Well, the Mumbai Indians did not have Shabnim Ismail and Harmanpreet Kaur for the game, and a lot could be put down to that. But no one can take away a thing from the way Navgire set the stage on fire.
Earlier in the day, the UP Warriorz won the toss and invited Mumbai Indians to bat first. Courtesy of a resilient knock by Hayley Matthews and some fiery cameos down the order, the Mumbai Indians posted 161 runs on the board. The task was cut out for the UP Warrirorz, especially with their batting out of form.
The UP Warriorz brought about a change in the opening slot with Kiran Navgire walking out to bat alongside Alyssa Healy. This move turned out to be a master stroke as Navgire’s onslaught put them in the driver’s seat pretty early in the game. The way she attacked the Mumbai Indians’ bowlers, allowed Healy to settle down and get back into her form. The duo put together a 96-run partnership off just 55 balls and put Warriorz way ahead in the game.
However, a flurry of wickets after this brought the defending champions back. The Warriorz lost three wickets in a span of just four runs and things started to look precarious for them. But Grace Harris and Deepti Sharma got the act together and put together a partnership that sealed the deal for the Warriorz. In the end, UP won the game by seven wickets with 21 balls remaining in the game.
16.3 Pooja Vastrakar to Deepti Sharma, FREE HIT! FOUR! All over! Deepti gets the win through an ungainly but effective shot. Big angry bouncer down the ground, Deepti looks to hook it but gets a top edge that flies over fine leg. UPW win a convincing three points!
16.3 Pooja Vastrakar to Grace Harris, fuller on middle and leg, clips it to deep mid-wicket for one --- oh no! Another no-ey from Pooja!
16.2 Pooja Vastrakar to Grace Harris, FOUR MORE! She's just having some fun now. Back of the hand slower one, very short outside off, sits up perfectly for Harris who drags it to deep mid-wicket!
