Thanks a lot for joining us- Rudransh Khurana and Mohul Bhowmick- for this exciting game of cricket in the ECS. We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did bringing it to you. Until next time, ciao and take care!
Vikram Solanki, Player of the Match: I had to take the responsibility because we lost a lot of wickets at regular intervals. The captain was also run out. The plan was to convert singles into twos and also not miss out on any boundary balls. Very pleased with the win.
There were a lot of twists and turns in this chase, but Baroda started it on the front foot and emerged as the winners quite comfortably in the end. It took senior pro Vishnu Solanki, also the vice-captain of the team, to stand tall and make sure that no hiccups derailed the Baroda innings.
Their innings started off on a good note when openers Jyotsnil Singh and Ninad Rathva tore into the Mumbai bowlers. The innings seemed to be going at a good tempo, but the loss of wickets at timely intervals seemed to ensure that Mumbai could come back into it.
What will hurt Mumbai immensely is that none of their spinners could rise to the occasion today and make the most of the opportunities given to them. They could not quite get any purchase from the surface, and this is what cost the domestic giants dear.
As for Baroda, they bowled extremely well to restrict Mumbai to 148 and batted equally well to chase these runs down. Vishnu Solanki was surely the star with the bat in hand for Baroda as was seamer Soyeb Sopariya with the ball.
The former was quite unlucky to have been stranded on 49. This win will give Baroda a lot of confidence, as does any win against Mumbai in domestic cricket. They will go into the semifinals of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy with a lot of confidence.
And Baroda are through to the semifinals of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2023-24!
18.5 Tushar Deshpande to Kartik Kakade, BARODA WIN! The scorecard might not tell that but Baroda have absolutely thumped the defending champions here! This is full on the stumps again, Kakade tried to flick it but got an outside edge to the third man region. The keeper sent in a throw and missed it. The batters have their arms raised high in celebration!
Kartik Kakade, RHB, is in at 9.
A gem of a delivery from Deshpande, but it has come a tad too late for Mumbai!
18.4 Tushar Deshpande to Dhruv Patel, BOWLED HIM! Too little too late but Deshpande gets this one right, at good pace and on the middle stump, Patel looked to drive but the ball sneaked through to clatter the furniture
Dhruv Patel b Tushar Deshpande 6 (7b 0x4 0x6)
18.3 Tushar Deshpande to Dhruv Patel, short ball on the stumps, Patel pulls and misses
