Shams Mulani Domestic Career

Shams Mulani made his domestic debut for Mumbai against Maharashtra in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2017-18 season.

A month later, he made his List-A debut for Mumbai against Madhya Pradesh (MP) in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2017-18 season. Mulani grabbed a four-wicket haul on List-A debut as Mumbai thrashed Maharashtra by a huge margin of 74 runs.

The 27-year-old all-rounder made his first-class (FC) debut for Mumbai against Railways in the Ranji Trophy 2018-19 season. He had a dream run in the Ranji Trophy 2021-22 season when he finished with 45 wickets in 11 innings at an average of 16.75, including a five-wicket haul in the final against MP. Still, unfortunately, his efforts went in vain as Mumbai lost to MP by 6 wickets.

However, his efforts won him two prestigious domestic awards in the form of the Madhavrao Scindia Award by BCCI for the highest wicket-taker in the Ranji Trophy 2021-22 season and the Lala Amarnath Award by BCCI for the best all-rounder in the Ranji Trophy 2021-22 season.

Mulani showed his batting prowess when he scored an unbeaten half-century in the second innings against Vidarbha in the Ranji Trophy 2023-24 final as Mumbai thrashed Vidarbha by 169 runs.

Shams Mulani IPL Career

Shams Mulani was used as a support bowler in the Mumbai Indians camp during the IPL 2020. Later on, he was roped in as a short-term COVID-19 replacement for Axar Patel in the Delhi Capitals in a rare instance. Mulani was acquired by MI in the IPL 2023 auction and made his IPL debut only in IPL 2024 against Gujarat Titans. He has yet to be given a long run in the IPL to prove his mettle, and he is hoping to give his best shot in the coming years in the cash-rich league.
