Born on March 13, 1997, in Raigad, Maharashtra, Shams Zakir Mulani is an all-rounder who bats left-handed and bowls slow left-arm orthodox. He represents Mumbai in the domestic circuit and plays for Mumbai Indians (MI) in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Mulani has a healthy domestic record with the ball across formats and has quite a useful track record with the bat lower down the order. He is yet to get solid game time to prove his potential in the IPL and would be itching to make a mark in the mega tournament.

Shams Mulani Career
Shams Mulani has had an excellent career with the ball for Mumbai in the domestic circuit and has scored handy runs lower down the order as well. He only made his IPL debut earlier in 2024 and would be raring to grab the opportunities that come his way with both hands.
Shams Mulani Domestic Career
Shams Mulani made his domestic debut for Mumbai against Maharashtra in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2017-18 season.
A month later, he made his List-A debut for Mumbai against Madhya Pradesh (MP) in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2017-18 season. Mulani grabbed a four-wicket haul on List-A debut as Mumbai thrashed Maharashtra by a huge margin of 74 runs.
The 27-year-old all-rounder made his first-class (FC) debut for Mumbai against Railways in the Ranji Trophy 2018-19 season. He had a dream run in the Ranji Trophy 2021-22 season when he finished with 45 wickets in 11 innings at an average of 16.75, including a five-wicket haul in the final against MP. Still, unfortunately, his efforts went in vain as Mumbai lost to MP by 6 wickets.
However, his efforts won him two prestigious domestic awards in the form of the Madhavrao Scindia Award by BCCI for the highest wicket-taker in the Ranji Trophy 2021-22 season and the Lala Amarnath Award by BCCI for the best all-rounder in the Ranji Trophy 2021-22 season.
Mulani showed his batting prowess when he scored an unbeaten half-century in the second innings against Vidarbha in the Ranji Trophy 2023-24 final as Mumbai thrashed Vidarbha by 169 runs.
Shams Mulani IPL Career
Shams Mulani was used as a support bowler in the Mumbai Indians camp during the IPL 2020. Later on, he was roped in as a short-term COVID-19 replacement for Axar Patel in the Delhi Capitals in a rare instance. Mulani was acquired by MI in the IPL 2023 auction and made his IPL debut only in IPL 2024 against Gujarat Titans. He has yet to be given a long run in the IPL to prove his mettle, and he is hoping to give his best shot in the coming years in the cash-rich league.
