Muhammad Jawadullah walks away with the Player of the Tournament honors!
Asif Ali has been declared the Player of the Match for his match-winning unbeaten 48!
Niroshan Dickwella - "Praise to the almighty. We have done really well. It was a team effort and the likes of Amir bowled really well today to set us up. When Asif Ali took that catch it was unbelievable since he plucked it out of thin air. He is a really quiet guy but does his job really well. There was a variety of bowlers and it was a really good experience to keep to the likes of Akeal Hossain. "
Mohamad Amir - We all play for this moment and we played as an unit since we batted and bowled really well. The bowling was quite well and Asif Ali was the hero for us with bat in hand. I tried to back my skills and trusted my variations. It was challenging but came out well. It's a great tournament and there are several top players like, Quinton de Kock and Trent Boult who have come here this time. There might be more such players who might turn out in future as well.
Odean Smith, New York Strikers - It's my second time as a champion of this tournament. The guys have been amazing and Akeal Hossain has been bowling a lot of overs for us. The ball has been swinging well for us. Asif Ali has been trying hard all season and it was great to see him take us over the line today.
The New York Strikers are the champions of the Abu Dhabi T10 2023!
New York Strikers 94/3 in 9.2 overs Asif Ali 48*(25) | Trent Boult 1/12 Kieron Pollard 22*(14) | Andre Russell 1/13
The New York Strikers have done the reverse on the Deccan Gladiators and they are the new champs of the Abu Dhabi T10. This has been a superb performance from them in the final and they have clinched it with 4 balls to spare and 7 wickets remaining.
The Strikers lost early wickets as Gurbaz, Waseem and Dickwella all fell in the first few overs. However at that stage Asif Ali came to the crease and he batted sensibly initially along with Kieron Pollard. The pair played the big shots timely and put up a 50 runs plus stand to clinch the game for their side.
Asif Ali played a match winning knock of 45 runs from just 22 balls and stayed unbeaten in the end. Skipper Kieron Pollard, played second fiddle in the partnership but he stuck around with the Pakistani batter as he scored 22 runs from just 14 balls. In the end, the Strikers romped home quite comfortably.
The bowlers did start off well for the Gladiators but Pooran was guilty of using up Boult early on for the need of wickets. Thushara got a wicket as well but he was expensive today. The likes of Salamkhiel and Imad along with Zahoor were all expensive and they gave away far too many runs. The lack of wickets also cost them as they could never build the pressure on the Strikers in the run chase.
10.0
9.2 Zahoor Khan to Asif Ali, SIX and with that the New York Strikers are the new champions of the Abu Dhabi T10. It was a slower one and at the surface. Sat up nicely to be hit and Asif Ali smashed it many a mile into the grass banks. The NY Strikers win by 7 wickets.
9.1 Zahoor Khan to Kieron Pollard, back of a length and at the stumps. Pollard tries to hit it away into the deep and gets only an inside edge.
