Phew! That was something alright. Blitzed by us within no time and Australia go 1-0 up on the back of more Travis Head madness. Shots all around the park and there's no denying that the world will look forward to him lighting up the stage again in a couple of days' time. A rude experience for Scotland but they are a determined side that will look to bounce back and pull one back in the next game. They will create history with their first win over Australia should they do so and after trailing in the series, there's no better time either!

Richie Berrington (Scotland captain): That's what you expect when you're up against one of the best teams in the world. We did start the game pretty well with the bat, had a good powerplay there. Credit to the Australian bowlers, I thought they adapted quickly and made it hard for us to capitalize on that start and put a big score on the board. We're really disappointed with how things ended today but it's a big experience for some of the young guys who have come in today. Great opportunity to come again in a couple of days' time. If we can execute a few things better we can get back into the game. As a team we want to keep improving all the time. Getting exposure against teams like Australia is only going to make us better. We've got to take the most out of every experience we get. We don't get it too often. We've shown we can compete if we play our best cricket. Unfortunately, we didn't today. But we will learn from it.

Mitchell Marsh (Australian captain): Always nice to start off with a win certainly in a three match series. It's a great start for us. I thought the bowlers were all really good. It was about being clear on what they want to do and executing that. The Scottish people are very proud of their cricket and their country. We are loving our time here.

Travis Head (Player of the Match, 80 off 25): Nice way to get underway. Bit of a break coming in and nice to get among the runs. It has been a nice period in the last two years. We have got some new energy. Yeah again losing Jake and wasn't sure how the wicket will behave. Nice little partnership with Marsh. It's my role to utilize the powerplay and we did that pretty well.

Yup. It's done. Over 300 runs in less than 30 overs as Australia have got to their target doubly quicker than they were asked to. We shouldn't really be surprised considering that the sledge-hammer named Travis Head took centerstage. Yet, we are blown away at what we have just witnessed!

A 154-run chase was bound to be straightforward for Australia but when Brandon McMullen nabbed Jake Fraser-McGurk for a duck in the opening over, the visitors were just on the back foot. Only for a bit considering what transpired later though as Head went about murdering every bowler in sight. Anything wide was thrashed, anything on the pads was flicked with ease and nothing the Scots tried helped.

The bowlers didn't help themselves with their radar of course but it was some hitting on display. Skipper Mitchell Marsh didn't want to fall behind himself and he joined the party when Jack Jarvis came on, carting him for 30 runs off the fifth over of the chase. The sixth too went for 26 as Brad Wheal disappeared with Australia setting a new world record for the most runs in the powerplay of a T20I innings.

Mark Watt came into the attack and removed both Head and Marsh within quick succession, denying Head the chance to register one of the fastest hundreds this format has seen. But the damage was done and anything thereafter was a mere formality. There was some drama of course with Watt attempting a 24-yarder and both Josh Inglis and Marcus Stoinis backing away after the ball was delivered as they were taken by surprise. The ball was called dead on both occasions, leaving Watt gobsmacked but it was all just a case of some belated drama. Stoinis fittingly sealed it with a monstrous hit to seal a thumping win for the Aussies. Stick around for the presentations...

And that is that! Stoinis seals it in style and Australia romp home with a whopping 62 deliveries to spare. It's a chase of 154 that they've made to look like a cakewalk. Unbelievable dominance with the bat!

9.4 Jack Jarvis to Marcus Stoinis, SIX! That's game set and match for Australia. What a thumping win and Scotland have to recover from this loss very quickly. Short of a length delivery from Jarvis, Stoinis stands tall and slaps it flat and hard over the long on fielder to complete an emphatic victory.
