There was a big rain-storm that came through, hopefully it's gone for good. Sunshine is out. Pitch looks an absolute belter as it usually does at the SuperSport Park. Looks a little bit on the drier side. The spinners might enjoy a bit of action. Little bit of movement in the soil if you push it quite hard. In general, it's a belter for the batters. Teams love chasing here, teams chase big totals here. Not surprising if the team winning the toss opts to chase. So that's all we have for you from this high-scoring, thrilling third T20 International between these two sides. Riding on Abhishek Sharma's blitz at the top of the order, followed by Tilak Varma's maiden hundred in India colours and a handy cameo from Ramandeep Singh, India put up a total that is good enough on most days and on most decks. Heinrich Klaasen and Marco Jansen almost helped the Proteas pull off a heist, but the hosts had too much to do - this Indian bowling attack proved to be too good for them eventually. Suryakumar Yadav, India captain: Very happy. We came out and played the brand of cricket we spoke about in the team meeting yesterday. The way they practice in the nets and play for the franchise, they need to do the same thing here and that's what they're doing. Really happy, the way they are clear in their mind and thoughts. They miss out at times, but the way they back themselves and their skills, very happy with that. Aggression and intent - it's not always about it all the time, even if you take that single first ball that counts as aggression too. It's made my job easier watching them bat like this from the dugout. The energy and intent from everyone, the way the boys were running on the field are notable, this is the first time I think we were six-seven minutes ahead when we were fielding. That's a collective thing we do on the field. I remember in Gqeberha he (Tilak) said give me that opportunity to bat at three, let me express myself. I said to him it was his day and to enjoy himself. The way he showed his skills was completely out of the box, I knew what he's capable of doing, very happy for him. He is batting at three going forward, he asked for it and delivered. He comes from that franchise where he gets to express himself on the field. Good to see him explore all his options.

Aiden Markram, South Africa captain: Proud to get that close with some special contributions from the top and middle order. Lot to take away from that, was a game of really small margins. Couple of key moments here and there, can tidy up on a couple of things at Joburg. Just about execution, don't go for boundaries with the ball. With the bat as well, get a bigger partnership, inject some momentum and the rest of the batters chip in. 220 is tough to chase at any day, we got nice and close at the end. Almost like an over-by-over game between bat and ball, winning more overs helps you stand a chance. Thought it was incredible with how Jansen got it close. We need to address areas where we can be better, take confidence from the good areas, batters got a bit of momentum tonight, bowlers executed their plans. We go again on Friday.

Tilak Varma is the Player of the Match, here is what he had to say: Yeah I am okay. It was just coming on the light so was a difficult catch but I am happy we have won it. I couldn't imagine that I achieved a hundred for the team. Under pressure, it was a good knock I feel. All credit to captain goes to captain Suryakumar Yadav. Before the game he said that I am capable of batting at No 3 and he will shift to No 4. I just wanted to express myself and back my basics. Whenever I was under pressure, I just kept following the basics. Wicket was slightly two paced at the start so it wasn't easy for the new batter after Abhishek got out. I just waited for one partnership. It worked well in the end and I am happy. I always believe in my basics. If you see the team management backs all the players. The positive approach has come from the management and the captain which has allowed me to express myself.

An invasion of flying ants delayed proceeedings at the start of the chase. Arshdeep Singh and Hardik Pandya played their part in keeping the runs under check in the powerplay, containing the opening duo of Ryan Rickelton and Reeza Hendricks. Having been beaten on numerous occasions, the latter looked to break free against Arshdeep Singh in the 3rd over, dispatching a short ball over deep square, but fell the next ball.

Pandya delivered another quiet over after that, maintaining the squeeze on the hosts. Varun Chakravarthy was then brought on, and he was in among the wickets straight away, deceiving Hendricks with a flatter length. Chakravarthy and Axar Patel kept a check on the runs over the course of the middle overs, Tristan Stubbs tried his best to throw them off their lengths, but perished trying to reverse-sweep the left-arm spinner.

Having struggled throughout the powerplay and beyond, Aiden Markram got hold of a couple of Chakravarthy in the 10th over, cleared the ropes and began showing signs of promise. That was cut short once he slapped the final delivery of the same over down the throat of Ramandeep Singh at mid-wicket. South Africa still had Heinrich Klaasen and David Miller in the middle, but the latter couldn't get bat on ball well enough to help his team's cause.

Klaasen, though, was always going to pose a threat, particularly against spin. Varun Chakravarthy looked helpless in his final over as Klaasen rocked back and obliterated his length deliveries, dispatching them deep into the stands at long-on. 23 came off the 14th, but South Africa still had a lot to do. Jansen got in on the act after Miller's departure in the 16th over, but the Proteas were dealt with a body blow when Arshdeep Singh accounted for Klaasen by going wide of the South African wicket-keeper batter.

The Proteas were still in with a chance - Marco Jansen provided them with a glimmer of hope with an exhibition of tremendous ball-striking against Hardik Pandya in the penultimate over. Twenty-six runs came off it, South Africa were in need of 25 in the final over against Arshdeep, but the left-armer held his nerve, even after conceding a six off his second delivery. He did for Jansen with one that tailed away from the all-rounder, and that pretty much was the game. Presentations to follow...
