Commentary

Alright! Not only to Scott Edwards, it's gonna take some time for the everyone to take it all in. Stephen Myburgh was confident in the mid-match interview that his team would defend 160, and the Dutch team showed enough intent to get the job done. South Africa lived up to their World Cup reputation as they failed to deliver under pressure and are knocked out of the tournament.

Scott Edwards: I am lost for words. It's gonna take some time to take it all in. We are used to these conditions in the Netherlands. It's another big upset by us in the WC and hopefully, the boys and support staff will be proud of us. It's an absolute gold for us after losing the first two games

Temba Bavuma: It was disappointing. We really played well to get into this position. It's hard to swallow. We worked really hard. We lost wickets at crucial moments and couldn't get any momentum. They used the dimension of the ground better than us

Colin Ackermann | Player of the Match: It feels fantastic, really deserve this victory today, the boys have worked hard for the last six months. That has been the theme of this World Cup. You got to earn the right to hit boundaries at the end. The surface was slower and we knew 160 was competitive, yeah it was a great performance. I need to speak to the skip about that actually (smiles) [on him not bowling much before this game in the tournament]. The South Africans had a few left-handers and the matchups worked well.

A historic win for the Netherlands. Who saw this coming? Not in the wildest of dreams many would've predicted this outcome. But the better team won on the day. South Africa were so passive while chasing and there was so much uncertainty in their shots.

de Kock perished quickly again and Temba Bavuma failed to convert the start into a big knock. Credit should be given to the Dutch bowlers for rising to the occasion and making it tough for the Proteas in the middle overs. They used the dimensions of the ground to good effect and hit the hard length deliveries on the pitch and that worked wonders. There was intent from Rossouw and Markram but both fell at a crucial moment in the game to put their team on the back foot. Then came South Africa's trump card David Miller but Roelof van der Merwe took a blinder to dismiss him. That could very well go down as one of the catches of the tournament

Soon after, the pressure got the better of the Proteas at the back end and once Klaasen got dismissed, all of South Africa's hopes went in vain. A limping Maharaj and Rabada fought until the end but it proved too much to chase

Netherlands have not only pulled off a World cup upset but they hand Pakistan and Bangladesh a second chance to qualify for the semis
