Dasun Shanaka receives the series trophy and he heads off to share it with his team. Good to see young Dunith Wellalage in the centre of the frame with the trophy as chants of 'Sri Lanka! Sri Lanka!' reverberate around the venue. What a series this has been - historic, and of course, extremely emotional and special for the people of Sri Lanka. Not a soul has left the ground - the beauty of sport, ladies and gentlemen!
Dasun Shanaka (Sri Lankan Captain): It was disappointing today but we keep pushing our boundaries as a team. Very proud of the boys for the way we've played this series. It was the momentum we took from the last T20 game so winning that set the tone for the one-day series. We could have won that first game as well but after that our batters kept performing well. Our bowlers kept delivering and defending whatever totals we set. Lot of positives - each and everyone took up responsibility in every game. Especially Kusal Mendis - great to see him take up responsibility and come out as Man of the Series. Young Dunith, Chamika Karunaratne, Theekshana...I've got so many names to say. It's a full house - I must thank the crowd for coming in big numbers. They've always been behind us. As a team, we'll surely deliver more in the future. I must specially thank the Australian team, the Australian cricket board as well for coming over. Special thanks to the groundsmen as well - they've done a wonderful job.
Aaron Finch (Australian Captain): I thought the series was very hard fought. Very close in a few games and credit to Sri Lanka - they played better cricket than what we did over the course of the five games and they deserve the win. There were some challenging conditions - most players got starts but we couldn't kick on and get those big partnerships. We saw a 170-run stand in the second (third) game from Sri Lanka. We got some 40-run stands but it just wasn't enough. It was fun being out here. I want to thank you all (the crowd) for your support. I know there's been a lot of yellow in the crowd. You've been amazing.
Kusal Mendis is the Player of the Series. Roshan Abeysinghe is kind enough to translate: Pleased with the team's performance and also his own personal performances. The role I'm playing is important. I have a role to play in the team and will look to execute that every chance I get. With the build-up to the World Cup, we have to keep ticking off some boxes.
Chamika Karunaratne is the Player of the Match. Here's what he has to say: It was a pleasing perfomance. I'm so happy. I wasn't batting well in the entire series but I was backing myself. I said today is my day and I'm going to do it and I think I did that well. When I was batting with Pramod, I told him to let's just keep batting. Even if there are a few maidens, it's okay. Even with Maheesh, I told him I had to take my chances in the last few overs. I really want to thank the fans for coming out and to the Australian team as well.

Chants of 'Australia! Australia!' from the Sri Lankan faithful, a massive contingent of whom turned up in yellow to extend their gratitude to the visitors for having toured their nation despite all the turmoil in the country in recent times. What a lovely gesture and what a lovely series this has been - fascinating, entertaining and thrilling, but most importantly, played in the perfect spirit. The Aussies go on a lap to thank the crowd themselves - this is a beautiful sight for the ages!
A consolation victory for the Aussies having conceded the series. This wasn't straightforward by any stretch though. Despite having Sri Lanka reeling at 85-8 and thereafter having to chase just 161, tottering at 19-3 meant that another long scrap lay ahead of them. And it came down to Marnus Labuschagne and Alex Carey to steady the ship.
Aaron Finch endured another duck, David Warner perished to a scorcher of a take by Danushka Gunathilaka and Josh Inglis' debut was short-lived. Mitchell Marsh huffed and puffed and scrapped around, but he too departed in a bid to break the shackles.
The pitch was quite an extreme one alright. It exploded, ripped square and bounced like a spitting cobra. It was a test of the sternest kind and Labuschagne hung in there to stitch a 50-run stand with Carey. Once the former was trapped in front by Dunith Wellalage though, the game sprung to life again. The hosts started to believe yet again, like they have all series, post the departure of Glenn Maxwell, but Carey held one end rather stubbornly.
It was a fine defiance from the wicket-keeper batter who brought out his sweeps and reverse-sweeps to great effect as he kept the scoreboard ticking. Wellalage and Maheesh Theekshana were Sri Lanka's best bets on the day and it was only fair that Dasun Shanaka rolled the dice with them. Once they were played out though, the end result was just a formality. Oh, a shout out to Pramod Madushan though - skiddy and accurate, he made a good first impression, adding to the list of massive takeaways for the Lankans this series.
So Australia achieve a consolation victory ahead of the Test series but a historic series win remains etched in all of minds at the culmination of it. Sri Lanka take the honors 3-2. Stick around for the presentations...
