Match ends in a draw - Tamil Nadu 143/2 in the 1st innings.
Weather had the final say in Agartala but for what it was worth, Vijay Shankar (55*) and Baba Indrajith (58*) reached their respective half-centuries on Day 4 before a draw was called between Tamil Nadu and Tripura. It was but inevitable with only 51 overs sent down throughout the course of the match.
Stumps on Day 3 - no play possible due to bad light; Tamil Nadu 122/2 in the 1st innings.
The entirety of Day 3 saw no play in Agartala. While an outright result is now near impossible for all practical purposes, chances of a team securing points on first innings lead too looks highly unlikely given the paucity of time.
Start of Day 3 delayed due to bad light.
Another day, another delayed start with the light not good enough for play to commence on Day 3. Once play does resume, will Tamil Nadu take the aggressive option with the bat to set up an early declaration and a shot at bowling Tripura out to pocket first innings points at the very least?
Stumps on Day 2 - Tamil Nadu 122/2 in the 1st innings.
The senior pros in Vijay Shankar (50*) and Baba Indrajith (47*) continued their good work with their unbroken partnership for the third wicket worth 93 at the moment. Not too many overs were possible in the final session and the light could have a say in how many more we get over the next two days as well in Agartala.
Tea on Day 2 - Tamil Nadu 71/2 in the 1st innings.
The long and frustrating wait for play to start came to an end at last in the second session of Day 2. Tamil Nadu elected to bat first upon winning the toss, handing a debut to Vimal Khumar, Boopathi Kumar and Ajay Krishna. Vimal and fellow opener B Sachin didn't last long though, before seniors Baba Indrajith and Vijay Shankar turned in the rescue act to bail Tamil Nadu into a decent position. A big knock from either of them if not both is the need of the hour for the team.
Lunch on Day 2 - start of play continues to be delayed due to bad light.
More frustration in Agartala with the game between Tripura and Tamil Nadu yet to commence on Day 2 as well due to bad light. The toss has still not taken place and chances of a result are bound to be bleak if this remains the case today.
Stumps on Day 1!
Not even the toss took place in Agartala as bad light wiped out the first day's play between Tripura and Tamil Nadu. Can either team force a result over the next three days though?
Start of play delayed due to bad light.
Two-time champions Tamil Nadu endured a difficult first round as they were trounced by Gujarat in Valsad. Their quest to put their campaign on track has hit another roadblock however, with bad light delaying the toss in their second round clash against Tripura at the MBB Stadium in Agartala. Tamil Nadu will also have to do without the services of batters Sai Sudharsan Pradosh Ranjan Paul, who have both linked up with the India A team to face the touring England Lions.
