Weather had the final say in Agartala but for what it was worth, Vijay Shankar (55*) and Baba Indrajith (58*) reached their respective half-centuries on Day 4 before a draw was called between Tamil Nadu and Tripura. It was but inevitable with only 51 overs sent down throughout the course of the match.

The entirety of Day 3 saw no play in Agartala. While an outright result is now near impossible for all practical purposes, chances of a team securing points on first innings lead too looks highly unlikely given the paucity of time.

The long and frustrating wait for play to start came to an end at last in the second session of Day 2. Tamil Nadu elected to bat first upon winning the toss, handing a debut to Vimal Khumar, Boopathi Kumar and Ajay Krishna. Vimal and fellow opener B Sachin didn't last long though, before seniors Baba Indrajith and Vijay Shankar turned in the rescue act to bail Tamil Nadu into a decent position. A big knock from either of them if not both is the need of the hour for the team.

Their quest to put their campaign on track has hit another roadblock however, with bad light delaying the toss in their second round clash against Tripura at the MBB Stadium in Agartala. Tamil Nadu will also have to do without the services of batters Sai Sudharsan Pradosh Ranjan Paul, who have both linked up with the India A team to face the touring England Lions.
