Harmanpreet Kaur: It was a good game. Palistan played really well but at the end of the day we wanted to win this game. Richa and Jemi played really well. Very sensible batting form them. All the players are keen to do well for the team. Whoever is getting an opportunity is pushing themselves. Every match is important for us no matter who we are playing. It was a good game and the crowd was fantastic today. We'd love to have some time in the nets (in the next few days). The things that didn't go well, we have to work on them. We have to keep doing the right things in the nets also - that's very important.

22:04 (IST)12 FEB 2023

Bismah Maroof: We were good and in the game all the time. We made some mistakes in the bowling unit. A lot of positives for us but hopefully, we do much better next game. In the roles that we have given, everyone did well in the batting unit. The role Ayesha played while batting was definitely crucial.

22:03 (IST)12 FEB 2023

Jemimah Rodrigues was adjudged Player of the Match

Jemimah Rodrigues: I actually don't know what to say. I knew we had to build partnerships and we had to take it deep. Richa and I shared a good partnership in the Asia Cup. We knew that we could chase any target. I had a good partnership with Shafali too. I think this innings means a lot to me since I haven't been scoring much off late. God has been great. My parents are here - I want to dedicate this to them. (Conversation with Richa Ghosh) We were just keeping over-by-over targets. We just needed 10 runs by over. If we were going over by over we needed just 9-10 runs an over. If we were there till the end we knew we would get it. It was a slower wicket. It was a little difficult but it was easier for the set batter to play. It was a team effort. We're very happy we won this. We're going to let this sink in. We've started it on a high and momentum is on our side. We just want to do the simple things right and consistently and follow the process. The result will take care of itself.

INDW vs PAKW: India women innings summary

That was another thrill just that the match didn't go down to the wire. Richa Ghosh's 20-ball 31 was played in the parallel lines to Ayesha Naseem's innings for Pakistan. India had a sluggish start with Yastika Bhatia managing just 17 runs in 20 balls and Shafali Verma (33 off 25) failed to convert her brisk start into a great inning. Harmanpreet Kaur and Jemimah Rodrigues timed the ball well in the middle before the Indian skipper departed off Nashra Sandhu's bowling in the 14th over. Richa took her time to settle in as she scored nine runs off 10 balls before she backed Jemimah in clearing the boundaries.Jemimah was calm and composed in her well-crafted half-century as Richa hit boundaries in the last two overs to seal the victory for the Women in Blue.

Hear what India women's team batter Jemimah Rodrigues has to say

Jemimah Rodrigues: Very excited. I just mentioned yesterday how my career has shaped up. It's my third World Cup. It's a lot more responsibility but I love that responsibility. We're a young side, we're looking really good and feeling positive about today. (Carried her guitar to South Africa?) I definitely have - I've told in a few interviews that I can forget my suitcase but never my guitar (laughs). The preparation has been really good. We've always spoken in the dressing room that we're preparing for the big stage in the World Cup. This is where it matters the most. We've had some good sessions here in South Africa, we've spent 25-30 days here. Can't wait to go out and express ourselves and nothing better than India-Pakistan. More than pressure, we want to enjoy every moment. This is what we spoke in the team meeting - we want to go out there, express ourselves, follow the process.

INDW vs PAKW: Pitch Report

The pitch at Newlands doesn't have much grass cover. South Africa women's team senior cricketer Dane van Niekerk believes the wicket will be similar to the last few games of the tournament and should serve as a great game. The weather in Cape Town is much cooler and that should assist the pacers with the movement.

18:16 (IST)12 FEB 2023

What did India women's team captain say?

Harmanpreet Kaur: We would like to bat first. It's a dry wicket and it won't change much in the second innings. We want to put some runs on the board. It's unlucky that she (Diana Baig) isn't with us here but it's also an opportunity for other players. We played in Australia and that has been good preparation.
