The Raiders RB attended the University of Alabama in college where he established himself as one of the top backs in the country. Jacobs’ most important and famous game in his college career came against the Georgia Bulldogs in the SEC Championship game. Josh Jacobs’ story is the American Dream. The Raiders RB has overcome a lot of struggles growing up. Jacobs was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, U.S to Marty and Lachelle Jacobs.

Josh Jacobs was a phenom during his high school career. Playing for the McLain High School in Tulsa, Oklahoma, the RB accumulated 5,372 yards and scored 56 touchdowns. The numbers were astonishing and out of the world that even local newspapers believed that the coach was making it up.

Jacobs did not have any offers after his high school. He was taught to work and do things the right way, by his father. He did. But things had to change. A man from Texas named G. Smith was impressed by Jacobs’ talent and took notice.

He helped Jacobs create a Twitter account and post his high school highlights. And then, the internet did its thing. Calls and offers from various universities started to flood in.

Jacobs had offers from New Mexico State, Wyoming, Oklahoma, Missouri, Purdue. The RB was close to committing to Wyoming until Alabama showed up. Growing up, it was his favorite college and when the offer came, it was a no brainer for the RB to pick it up.

Josh Jacobs’ freshman year with Alabama was shared with Damien Harris and Bo Scarbrough. Harris now plays for the Buffalo Bills in the NFL and Scarbrough, for the Birmingham Stallions in USFL. Jacobs played 14 games in his first season and put up solid numbers, rushing for 567 yards in 85 carries and scoring four touchdowns.

In his sophomore season, Jacobs played with a broken ankle for most of the year. He rushed for 284 yards in 46 carries and scored a touchdown.
