About Chicago Bears

The Chicago Bears are as historical as the NFL itself. The Bears are one of the founding charter members of the National Football League. Established in 1919, the Chicago Bears are currently the second oldest franchise in the NFL. The Staley Starch Company decided to sponsor a football team in 1920 and that is how the team came to be, as they joined the American Football Association (which later got renamed to the National Football League). The Bears have been one of the most successful NFL franchises ever and reigned supreme especially during the 1930s to the 1960s. The Bears have had some of the greatest names in Pro Football as part of their franchise like Walter Payton, Dick Butkus, and Mike Ditka. The Chicago Bears have the second most victories in the history of the league. The franchise is also historical for having the most number of enshrinees in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The Bears have not reached the heights of their glorious past in the contemporary NFL era however, the franchise still remains a strong contender in the NFC North Division. The Bears entered the franchise for a fee of $100 and now they are valued at around $5.8 billion dollars.

Chicago Bears Next Game

As the Bears gear up for another season of the NFL they have an action-packed schedule facing tough opponents from the very start. They kick off the regular season against the formidable Green Bay Packers at Soldier Field, setting the tone for challenging matchups ahead. In Week 3, the Bears will face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, in a Sunday night showdown. Another exciting matchup awaits in Week 8 when they take on the Los Angeles Chargers at SoFi Stadium. Throughout the season, the Bears will be tested by various talented teams, including the Kansas City Chiefs and the Minnesota Vikings. The preseason also offers intriguing games against the Tennessee Titans and Buffalo Bills, providing valuable opportunities to evaluate the team's performance before the regular season commences. Bears fans can expect a thrilling season ahead with moments of triumph and battles on the gridiron.

Chicago Bears Roster 2023-24

The Bears will be relying on their number 1 quarterback Justin Fields for the upcoming season along with linebacker Tremaine Edwards and and wide receiver DJ Moore. As Fields heads into a critical third season, there are high expectations for him to progress in his passing game while maintaining his exceptional running abilities. The exciting development is that he now has a genuine top-tier receiver in Moore, who has achieved three 1,000-yard seasons despite facing challenges with Carolina's quarterback situation. Another significant addition is Edmunds, who joined the team as a free agent during the offseason. At 25 years old and coming off a remarkable year with the Bills, he will play a vital role as the anchor of Chicago's defense, solidifying the middle position for the team in the upcoming 2023 season and beyond.

Chicago Bears Championships

The Chicago Bears are one of the most successful teams in the history of the game. Before the 1970 AFL-NFL merger, the Bears were dominant in the National Football League and won 8 Championship titles. They had their most successful run of form in the Playoffs again in the 1980s when they also won their maiden Super Bowl (in 1985). In recent times the Bears have struggled to make it to the Playoffs on a consistent basis.

To date the Bears have a Playoff record of 17 wins and 20 losses. They have won 19 Divisional Championships, 1 Super Bowl, 4 Conference Championships and 8 NFL Championships (pre 1970s merger).

FAQs

The Chicago Bears have been based out of Soldier Field for most of their NFL history. The owners of the Bears recently purchased the Arlington International Racecourse for $197.2 million and intend to move the Bears to the suburbs of Chicago. The current Bears stadium is the smallest stadium in the NFL and the Bears want to relocate to Arlington Heights to generate more revenue for the team's benefit.

The current Chicago Bears home stadium is Soldier Field. Established in 1924, it is the oldest stadium in the NFL and the MLS. Apart from being the home stadium for the Chicago Bears, it also serves as the home stadium for the Chicago Fire FC of the MLS. The historic venue has hosted the 1994 FIFA World Cup, the 1999 FIFA Women's World Cup, and multiple CONCACAF Gold Cup championships.

The Chicago Bears have been owned by the Halas family since 1921. The current owner is Virginia Halas McCaskey, who has owned the team since 1983 after the death of her father George Halas. The 98 year old owner of the Bears is worth approximately $1.3 billion.

Technically Aaron Rodgers does not own the Chicago Bears. However, being an  ex-Packers player through and through, he has dominated their fiercest rivals (the Chicago Bears) throughout his NFL career. Thus, Rodgers has often exclaimed that he owns the Bears (but only on field during games!)
