Miro: A Brief Biography

Miroslav Barnyashevis is a Bulgarian professional wrestler signed with AEW. He is best known for his work with AEW and WWE as Miro and Rusev, respectively. He is a former TNT and United States Champion.

Professional Wrestling Career

WWE (2010-2020)

Early Years (2010-2013)

Before joining WWE, Barnyashevis moved to the United States and worked on the independent circuit for four years. In 2010, he signed with WWE, where he began working with FCW. After a couple of injuries and time off, Barnyashevis returned to NXT as Rusev and hired Lana as his manager.

United States Championship and League of Nations (2014-2017)

In 2014, he made his main roster debut at Royal Rumble. After Rumble, they moved him to RAW. In November, he defeated Sheamus to win the United States Championship. At Survivor Series, he joined Team Authority and lost.

In 2015, he began feuding with John Cena. At WrestleMania 31, Rusev lost the title to John Cena. After losing to Cena, Rusev began feuding with Dolph Ziggler. At SummerSlam, Rusev lost to Dolph Ziggler.

The storyline was dropped as Rusev and Lana announced their engagement. By the end of the year, he joined The League of Nations. At WrestleMania 32, The League of Nations defeated The New Day.

After Mania, Rusev won his second United Championships from Kalisto. In 2016, they drafted him to RAW along with Lana. By the end of the year, he feuded with Roman Reigns and lost the title.

Rusev Day and Final Feuds (2017-2020)

In 2017, he was moved to SmackDown, where he began teaming up with Aiden English. The duo were called Rusev Day and worked in the tag team division. In 2018, English turned on Rusev and Rusev went back to Lana. In December, he won his third United States Championship.

At Royal Rumble, he lost the title to Shinsuke Nakamura. Rusev spent the next few months teaming up with Nakamura. Later, he was drafted to RAW. After moving to RAW, he began feuding with Bobby Lashley and Lana. In 2020, they released Rusev from his contract.

AEW (2020-Present)

In 2020, he signed with AEW and teamed up with Kip Sabian. Miro adopted a new character called The Best Man and worked in the tag team division. A year later, Miro turned on Sabian and adopted a new character.

In May, he defeated Darby Allin to win the TNT Championship. During his time as the champion, he adopted the moniker of God's Favorite Champion. After 140 days, he lost the title to Sammy Guevara. He is currently injured and taking time off.
