Karl Fredericks, born on July 15, 1990, is an American professional wrestler associated with WWE, currently showcasing his skills on NXT using the ring name Eddy Thorpe. As a Native American, his WWE alias pays homage to athlete Jim Thorpe, who shares his heritage. Notably, Fredericks made a mark in New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW) by winning the 2019 Young Lion Cup.Fredericks also demonstrated his versatility by participating in crossfit during the years 2017 and 2018.

Wrestling Career

Early Career

Making his debut on May 17, 2015, in Supreme Pro Wrestling, Karl Fredericks built his wrestling career over four years (2015-2018) across various California and American West Coast promotions. Notably, he achieved success with titles such as the APW Worldwide Internet Champion, APW Tag Team Champion, and PCW Inter-California Champion during this period.

Ring Of Honor(2019)

Karl Fredericks made his debut in Ring Of Honor (ROH) on January 24, 2019, during the opening night of the ROH Road To G1 Supercard pay-per-view. Partnering with Alex Coughlin in the 2019 Tag Wars Tournament, they faced elimination by Lifeblood members David Finlay & Juice Robinson. Over the following SuperCard pay-per-view nights, Fredericks participated in two more tag matches. His regular ROH television debut occurred on the April 5 episode, engaging in a six-man tag match alongside Alex Coughlin & Clark Connors, ultimately won by Dalton Castle & The Boys.

New Japan Pro Wrestling(2019-2022)

Karl Fredericks made his debut with Ring Of Honor (ROH) on May 8 as part of the ROH vs. NJPW War Of The Worlds event due to the business ties between the two promotions. He teamed up with Clark Connors in a tag match, but unfortunately, they were defeated by members of ROH's The Kingdom, TK O'Ryan & Vinny Marseglia. Fredericks continued his early journey in both companies, participating in his first singles match on May 12 during the fourth night of War Of The Worlds. Fredericks officially entered New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW) on January 6, 2020, during NJPW New Year Dash. In his NJPW-only debut, he teamed up with Alex Coughlin & Clark Connors, securing victory against Toa Henare, Yota Tsuji & Yuya Uemura. Fredericks actively participated in NJPW's American tour, concluding on February 1 with a tag match alongside Ren Narita against Satoshi Kojima & Yuji Nagata.

Following a four-month hiatus due to the 2020 Coronavirus outbreak, Fredericks returned to the ring on June 13 during the NJPW Lion's Break Collision event, facing Jeff Cobb. Adjusting to pandemic restrictions, NJPW introduced the television series NJPW STRONG, featuring Fredericks on the premiere episode on August 7. He competed in the 2020 New Japan USA Cup Tournament but was eliminated in the first round by KENTA. On October 9, during the 10th episode of NJPW STRONG, Fredericks contributed to Team NJPW's victory in a 12-Man Elimination Battle Royal against BULLET CLUB. On December 4, during the 18th Episode of NJPW STRONG, Fredericks and Team NJPW emerged triumphant in a 10-man elimination tag match against the BULLET CLUB.

WWE NXT (2023-Present)

In January 2023, reports surfaced that Karl Fredericks had inked a contract with WWE. Following this, in February, he was designated the ring name Eddy Thorpe.He debuted with a win over Dante Chen on the February 17 NXT Level Up episode, then defeated Oro Mensah on the March 3 show, and defeated Xyon Quinn on the March 17 episode. Thorpe has also worked two non-televised live events – he attacked Axiom on February 24 in Jacksonville, then was defeated by the debuting Dragon Lee on March 11 in St. Petersburg.On December 13, 2023, in WWE's NXT Underground, Eddy Thorpe secured a victory by defeating Dijak in a match that lasted 15 minutes and 47 seconds. This notable win adds to Thorpe's growing success in the NXT circuit.
