It turns out that his nickname was thought up by one of his former coaches, Ben Pine, a long time ago. Pine made the nickname a playful way to refer to De Minaur's last name, which is tricky to say. It also relates to his speed and agility on the court.

Alex De Minaur explained, "The one responsible for it is one of my past coaches, Ben Pine, from a while ago. It kind of had to do with my speed in a way. It played around with the words of my last name. My last name is long and can be hard to say correctly. So it made sense, and I've stuck with it ever since."
