Alexander Zverev is arguably the best tennis player in the world who has yet to win a Grand Slam title. A German tennis player born on April 20, 1997, "Sascha" has achieved remarkable success in his career at the age of 27. He achieved a career-high ranking of No. 2 in singles in June 2022.



Zverev's illustrious achievements include 22 ATP Tour titles in singles and 2 in doubles, proving his prowess in both formats. He emerged as the winner at the 2018 and 2021 ATP Finals.



Alexander Zverev also won a gold medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. With his top-notch gameplay, immense passion, and competitiveness, Zverev is considered by many to be one of the best players on the tour. Zverev is currently coached by his father, Alexander Zverev Sr., who was a former tennis professional and represented the Soviet Union.

Alexander Zverev has played in two Grand Slam finals, as of September 2024. He first reached the final of the 2020 US Open, where he lost to Austrian Dominic Thiem in five sets. Zverev won the first two sets before Thiem made a historic comeback. That same year, Zverev also reached the semi-finals of the Australian Open, where he lost to Dominic Thiem in four sets.



Zverev reached his second Grand Slam final at the 2024 French Open, where he won against 14-time champion Rafael Nadal, Holger Rune, Alex de Minaur, and two-time finalist Casper Ruud en route. However, he lost to Carlos Alcaraz in the final after being two sets to one, with the final scoreline recorded as 3-6, 6-2, 7-5, 1-6, 2-6.



Zverev won a Junior Major singles title at the Australian Open in 2014, and was also the former junior world No.1. Alexander Zverev made an early impact on the professional tennis circuit by becoming the youngest player (17 years) to win a Challenger event. His tremendous performances, including a grasscourt win over Roger Federer, led him to debut in the top 20 rankings at the age of 20, a feat only accomplished by Novak Djokovic.
