Crown Jewel Championship is a professional wrestling championship in WWE. The inaugural champion of the title is yet to be crowned. The title is not meant to be defended like other traditional championships in WWE and will fall more in line with annual achievements such as the Money in the Bank. The inaugural champion will be crowned at Crown Jewel 2024. The winner of the title is awarded a ring that he can carry around while the title belt is kept with WWE in Saudi Arabia.

What is the WWE Crown Jewel Championship?

The Crown Jewel championship is an annual title that will be awarded at the Crown Jewel Premium Live Event. The event takes place every year in October or November in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Titles in WWE are usually defended by the champion after every few weeks. However, the Crown Jewel Championship is not going to be such a title, as every year a new champion will be crowned at the event.

The belt will be contested by the World Heavyweight Champion of Monday Night RAW and the WWE Champion of Friday Night SmackDown. Every year, it is expected that a new champion will be crowned. Earlier, the two champions used to compete at Survivor Series from 2017 to 2021.

History of WWE Crown Jewel Championship

Titles in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

WWE has introduced a few new titles exclusively for the events held in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. WWE first held an event in the country in 2018 the Greatest Royal Rumble. A 50-man Royal Rumble match was held there and the winner Braun Strowman was awarded the Greatest Royal Rumble Trophy and Championship. In the next event, at Crown Jewel 2018, a WWE World Cup was held where Shane McMahon defeated Dolph Ziggler to win the cup. A 51-man Battle Royal was then held at Super Show-Down 2019.

At Crown Jewel 2019, another World Cup followed this time for the Tag Teams. The O.C. became the WWE Tag Team World Cup Champions. At Super Show-Down 2020, a gauntlet match was held for the Tuwaiq Mountain Trophy, where The Undertaker eliminated AJ Styles to win the trophy. In 2021, Crown Jewel became the home of the King of the Ring and Queen’s Crown tournament, and in 2024, the King and Queen of the Ring tournament was reserved for Saudi Arabia. Now, from 2024, Crown Jewel 2024 will be the home of the Crown Jewel Championship.

RAW vs SmackDown World Champions History

WWE re-introduced the brand extension in 2016, and the annual Survivor Series event was made the home to WWE’s brand supremacy competition between RAW and SmackDown. The next year, in 2017, WWE introduced the concept where the top world champions of both brands took on each other at Survivor Series.

The concept took place from 2017 to 2021 with the exception of 2019. In 2022, Survivor Series moved from the traditional five-on-five tag team match and the brand supremacy to a WarGames match. Therefore, the annual RAW vs SmackDown World title concept was dropped. Now, the match is being brought back, with the winner now being awarded the WWE Crown Jewel Championship.

WWE Crown Jewel Championship Design

The Crown Jewel Championship belt, for both men and women, boasts a sleek design featuring a golden title plate and green accents. The front showcases the WWE Crown Jewel logo event logo. Triple H announced that the belt is adorned with 50 carats of diamonds, reflecting its status as a coveted prize for the top performers in the WWE. The men's title has a total of 3,356 embedded stones in it.

However, the WWE Crown Jewel Title belt is not given to the champion and is instead shown for display. The winner of the belt is instead awarded a ring to signify his victory over the other world champion in WWE.
