The Cowboys will kick off their 2024 college football season with most of the starters of the program bringing a veteran roster for the season. The Oklahoma State Cowboys will be hosting four Big 12 games at home in Boone Pickens Stadium for the 2024 season.

The schedule released, booked six home games, which include games against Arkansas Razorbacks and Big 12 newcomers Arizona State Sun Devils. In addition, the Cowboys will be visiting Colorado for the first time since 2007 and will be playing against BYU Cougars in Provo for the first time in program history. Meanwhile, Oklahoma State home games are listed against South Dakota State, Arkansas, Utah, West Virginia, Arizona State, and Texas Tech. Per the schedule released four of six home games will be played in the first six weeks of the season, while only two home games will be played after Oct. 5. The 2024-25 college football season for the Cowboys will end after visiting Deion Sanders and The Colorado Buffaloes on Black Friday, the first time since 2008.

Oklahoma State Cowboys Key Games

Oklahoma State is decked with some important and challenging games in the 2024-25 scheduled games. Both the non-conference slate and Big 12 will pose as a test for the Cowboys. The non-conference will kick off against South Dakota State who are visiting Boone Pickens Stadium and ends on Sep.14 when they visit Tulsa at H.A. Chapman Stadium. The Big 12 will open on Sep. 20 when Oklahoma State hosts Utah Utes for the first time in college history.

Week 1- August 31, 2024- Against South Dakota State

The opening will be as decisive as all the other upcoming games. The Cowboys will be looking into opening the season by winning against the two-time defending FCS national champion South Dakota State. The reigning FCS national champion South Dakota State will be visiting the Boone Pickens Stadium as it marks its first matchup with Oklahoma State. This opening game will be challenging for the Cowboys, as the Jackrabbits are the winners of their last 29 games, which is the third-longest streak in FCS history.

Week 4 - September 20 - Utah Utes

The opening game of Big 12 play against Utah Utes at Boon Pickens Stadium is another game the Cowboys need to perform to stay strong in the season. Utah and Cowboys have met once in 1945 when the Cowboys won 46-6 in Salt Lake City, however, the same result will be a challenge as many key players of Utah are returning to the roster. As Oklahoma State hosts Utah for the first time, it will also mark the matchup against two of the three longest-tenured active FBS head coaches, Mike Gundy and Kyle Whittingham.
