For sponsorship reasons, it has been known as the RBC Canadian Open since 2008.
The 2024 RBC Canadian Open is scheduled to take place from May 30 to June 2. The event's final qualifier event will be on May 27, while practice rounds and the RBC Canadian Open Pro-Am will begin on May 28 and May 29, respectively. The event will have a purse of $9.4 million.

RBC Canadian Open History
The history of the Canadian Open is deeply intertwined with the history of the courses it has played at. The inaugural event was played in 1904 at the Royal Montreal Golf Club, which was founded in 1873. The Canadian Open took place at the latter golf club ten more times, though the event changes its venue every year in an unpredictable manner, sometimes being consecutive.
The first trophy presented to the winner was donated by the Rivermead Golf Club, which hosted the event in 1920. Before then, the winner received a gold medal. Since 1920–1935, the Rivermead Challenge Cup has been the trophy, followed by the Segram Gold Cup in 1936–1970. Then the Du Maurier Trophy from 1971 to 1993 and finally the RBC Canadian Open from 1994 to present.
The Canadian professional with the lowest score was awarded the Rivermead Challenge Cup from 1936 to 1961 and again since 2007. The only players to win the Triple Crown of Golf (the Open, U.S. Open and Canadian Open) in one season are Tiger Woods (2000) and Lee Trevino (1971).

The 2024 RBC Canadian Open will be played at the Hamilton Golf and Country Club, located in Ancaster, Ontario, founded in 1894. The golf designer Harry Colt designed Hamilton Golf and Country Club's 18 holes, while other holes were designed by Robbie Robinson in 1974.
Six Canadian Opens have been held at the club; the most recent one was in June 2019. In order to prepare for the most recent Opens, the course was extended and redesigned in the late 1990s. The original Hamilton Golf and Country Club was located on the corner of Barton and Ottawa streets.
Long considered one of Canada's best golf courses, Hamilton Golf and Country Club is now ranked second on ScoreGolf magazine's list of the best golf courses in Canada and placed 98th on Golf Digest's list of the Top 100 Courses in the World.
