Alexander Victor "Xander" Schauffele is an American professional golfer who competes on the PGA Tour as of April 2025. He went professional in 2015, winning his first professional event, the Northern California Open, in September of the same year. He won his PGA Tour card after finishing 15th in the 2016 Web.com Tour Finals, and his first PGA win came at the Greenbrier Classic in 2017. That same season, he also won the Tour Championship, but Justin Thomas beat him in the FedEx Cup with more points. In 2019, the Tour Championship was introduced with the starting strokes system to avoid the latter situation.

As of April 2025, Schauffele has won 12 professional events and is ranked world No. 3, as per the Official World Golf Rankings (OWGR). His world career-high ranking is No. 2, achieved in May 2024. Most notable of his wins are the 2018 WGC-HSBC Champions, the golf medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, and two major championships at the 2024 Open Championship and the 2024 PGA Championship.

Xander schauffele's FedEx Cup Wins

Xander Schauffele has not yet won a FedEx Cup as of April 2025. However, he did win the 2017 Tour Championship but was defeated in the FedEx points list by Justin Thomas. Before 2019, these two events were separate from each other and could have individual winners.

But to avoid this situation, in 2019, the Tour Championship’s format added the “Starting Strokes” system, which gave a starting score of 10 under to the leader of the FedEx Cup Standings and 8 under to the second ranking and so on to the 25th, with even scores from 26th to 30th. This is to ensure that the FedExCup leader has an advantage and that one clear winner is crowned for both the Tour Championship and the FedExCup.
