That is all we have from this fascinating encounter from the Blast final. Till the next time, this is myself (Arya Sekhar Chakraborty) signing off also on behalf of my fellow commentator and good mate Pragadeesh.
Lewis Gregory (Somerset captain): Pretty damp good. We have been in the finals earlier as well but this is a great feeling. Each time we come back, I was praying that just one or two guys stand up and have the day of their life. We eventually did it the hard way. We have been really fortunate with the bowlers. The boys with the bat has been doing the job as well. The coach has also done a great job. Super super happy for him and the way he has formed the team.
Matt Henry (Man of the Match) : I am Stoked. Came here and played some exciting cricket. We knew it was a defendable total anything over 140 is defendable. We kept taking early wickets and that was vital. The whole campaign has been outstanding and everyone has stepped up. I had been here a few times and it’s great to put up a performance like this. First finals day and hats off to the crowd. They have been really outstanding
Simon Harmer (Essex captain): I don’t know. We have to pick up pieces from the game. The bowled exceptionally well and unfortunately we are the loser tonight. If its one thing that you cant take away from Essex is how you fight till the end. We couldnt put it together with the bat tonight but such is life. We came out of the blocks very rapidly but we lost a few wickets and they bowled really well. Credit to them but it is what it is. Nobody gave us a chance coming into the tournament. We have shown that we have got a great set of boys and I am really proud of them. They are disappointed at not winning the tournament.
James Vince is the Vitality Player of the Tournament.
Time for the post-match presentation ceremony.
Somerset won by 14 runs
Sean Dickson 53(35) | Matt Henry 4/24(3.4) Daniel Sams 45(26) | Shane Snater 3/13(4)
What an exceptional bowling effort by Somerset as they have managed to defend a score of 145 and have won the final by 14 runs. It was a tough pill to swallow for Simon Harmer and his men but in the end Somerset every bit for the victory. The bowlers rose to the occasion and bowled them out for 131 inside the 19th over. Daniel Sams kept the hopes alive but Tom Kohler Cadmore took a sensational catch to finish off proceedings as the Somerset players ran in unison. What an effort and they will be proud of what they have done today.
Essex started off in a blazing fashion with openers Adam Rossington and Dan Lawrence racing off to 27 in the first two overs before the departure of Rossington at a crucial juncture of the game. Lawrence also followed suit soon after as Matt Henry bowled a superb opening spell. Michael Kyle Pepper was dismissed cheaply and the pressure was firmly on Essex. It was Paul Walter who kept them in the game with some impressive batting.
He was eventually dismissed by Ish Sodhi as he swiped across the line and lost his stumps. Daniel Sams then held the fort and tried to take the game close. He didn't get too much support from the other end but held his shape and struck a magical knock of 45 which came in just 26 deliveries and included a four and 3 sixes. He looked set to take them over the line but the brilliance of TKC in the field won it for Somerset in the end. Stay tuned. We will be back for the post-match presentation ceremony.
18.3 Matt Henry to Daniel Sams, WICKET! That's the end of the game and what an exceptional catch at short third man from Tom Kohler-Cadmore. What a bowling effort from Somerset. That was a length delivery well outside off, Sams throws his hands at that and ends up getting an outside edge, Sams felt the boundary was certainly on but TKC dives to his left and holds onto a one-handed stunner.

18.2 Matt Henry to Daniel Sams, splices away the back of a length delivery a shade outside off straight to the cover fielder.
18.1 Matt Henry to Daniel Sams, SIX! That has been drilled down the ground. On a length around middle stump, Sams drills this down the ground and gets it up and over the sightscreen.
