Right then. After clinching the ODI series, Bangladesh have ensured that they take an unassailable lead in this two-match T20I series. It's their third-highest win in terms of runs, against an Afghan outfit that backs themselves in the shortest format. The hosts continue to prove to be home-track bullies, racking up wins in bi-lateral series for a while now. Mahmudullah (Bangladesh Captain): It was very pleasing to see how the boys fought out there with the bat and the ball and the energy was superb to see. I think it was defendable because we were looking to score 155-165. I think it was a challenging total on this wicket and the bowlers bowled really well up top. Nasum bowled really well and it was a match-changing spell. Having said that, Liton batted really well too. Once he gets going he's really good to see. Afif batted well too with him. Happy for the boys - it was an important win for us against a team like Afghanistan who are very good in this format. Hopefully we can turn up again and win the next game.

Nasum Ahmed (Player of the Match) roughly translated: The plan was to come and bowl early on, to try and pick up wickets. That worked out today. The plan was to keep things tight in the powerplay. Dry up the runs, put up the pressure and pick up the wickets. Worked out all well today!

Mohammad Nabi (Afghanistan Captain): The boys bowled really well. The pitch was really good for batting. We though we could chase that score. We threw away our wickets in the Powerplay and that's why we were under pressure as a batting group. Four wickets in the first four overs in the Powerplay put us on the backfoot. We will try our best for the next game.

It's a thumping victory for the hosts as they brush aside Afghanistan in the first of the two T20Is. After a bit of a wobble with the bat, it was Liton Das' stylish half-century that allowed Bangladesh to post their highest total on the board against Afghanistan. Without a doubt, it proved to be more than a handful for the visitors.

Their run-chase was a bit of a disaster from start to finish. Nasum Ahmed played wrecker in chief with his four-fer to breeze past the Bangladesh top-order, while Shoriful, Shakib and Mustafizur wrapped up the rest of the job to lead their side to a commanding win. Apart from a steadying slow partnership between Nabi and Zadran, it was a sorry-looking scorecard for the Afghans.

The Afghan batters have themselves to blame for that batting performance. On a surface that had no real demons, they threw their wickets away to allow the Bangla Tigers to take an unassailable 1-0 lead in the two-match series. Stick around for the presentations.

17.4 Shoriful Islam to Mujeeb Ur Rahman, OUT! GAME, SET AND MATCH! Almost fittingly, it's another wicket that follows a boundary as Shoriful seals it with his third! Dug into the track outside off, Mujeeb backs away and heaves it powerfully over mid-wicket but yet again, an Afghan batter fails to get enough on it. Bangladesh have barely dropped anything today and there's no way Afif was going to make a hash of that in the deep. Bangladesh beat Afghanistan by 61 runs to go 1-0 up in the series!
