Alright. That's that from this series, Sri Lanka finish things off in the second session in a canter to win the test match and the series. Lots of cricketing action yet to come, we have the Qualifier 2 of Indian Premier League coming up later in the evening as Royal Challengers Banglaore lock horns against Rajasthan Royals, do not forget to tune into that at 7:30pm IST. Until next time, this has been me, Pradeep alongside Manaas as we sign off, stay safe and take care!
Time for the presentation!
Dimuth Karunaratne (Captain, Sri Lanka): We knew, we needed couple of wickets to bowl Bangladesh out. The fast bowlers were just brilliant in both the inning, just what we needed. Bit disappointed with the spin attack, expecting some wickets from them. Spinners will learn from here, they did well in patches, back home we are up against Australia, looking forward to it. Winning is the ultimate thing, we have done well in the last few years, this will take a lot of courage, it builds the confidence. It's tough time back home, but this series win hopefully brings some joy to the people of Sri Lanka!
Angelo Matthews is the Man of the Series as he amassed 344 runs in the two test match series!
Angelo Matthews (Sri Lanka): No better feeling than scoring Test centuries and even top it off with a series win. Credit to Bangladeshi bowlers, they made me work hard for the runs. Chattogram was a bit flat but here in Mirpur, the surface was offering lot of purchase to the bowlers. It was a great effort by our pace bowling attack, looking forward to the next series.
Asitha Fernando has been adjudged the Player of the Match for his 10 wicket haul and splendid figures in the second inning, 6-51 and 4-93 in the first inning!
Asitha Fernando (Sri Lanka): There was a bit of grass, it helped seam bowling in the first day, after that, the bounce varied, we needed to pitch in the right areas and we got rewarded. Thanks Kasun, it was a combined effort from both, they executed well laid out game plan.
Mominul Haque (Captain, Bangladesh): It's been a disappointing test match, obviously we have to work on the top order batting. We had contributions, Mushfiqur Rahim and Litton's resurgence in the first innings was brilliant. Our bowlers did put up a lot of pressure but we need to work on a little more in the coming games. Test cricket is all about how you handle mentally, the first two days of the test match is crucial and you can dictate terms from there on. Look after our bowling as well, especially the pace bowling, have to learn how to handle the pressure.
Sri Lanka won the game by 10 wickets and the series 1-0!
Bangladesh came into the final day thinking they could turn the tables around with another brilliant partnership, they did quite well in the first session as they lost just a solitary wicket of Mushfiqur Rahim who was the hero of the first innings to bring about the revival of Bangladesh in the test match.
It was the second session that Sri Lanka in fact turned things around, Asitha Fernando in particular, he scalped the big wicket of Litton Das early, later on Shakib Al Hasan fell cheaply in the session as Asitha had his tail up.
Ramesh Mendis is the only spinner in the Sri Lankan line-up that has picekd up a wicket in the entire test match as he removes Mosaddek. It was a procession of sorts as Bangladesh crumbled once their prime batters fell in the second session.
Asitha then finishes things off as he removes Taijul and Khaled in successive deliveries. Asitha Fernando finishes with his best figures in test match, 6-51. Bangladesh were only 28 ahead, that meant Sri Lanka needed 29 runs to win the test match.
Oshada Fernando, like the way he's played in the first inning, he started off punishing Taijul as he picks up three boundaries in the very first over. Sri Lanka then go on to reaching the target in just three overs and win the test match by 10 wickets and the series as well 1-0!
Sri Lanka needed just 3 overs to finish things off, they coasted to that 29 runs target in no time. Oshada Fernando with four boundaries was in real hurry to win the game. Lots to ponder for Bangladesh in the World Test Championship as they find themselves just above England who's at the bottom of the table.

2.6 Ebadot Hossain to Oshada Fernando, full and on the fourth stump line, Fernando opens the face of the bat and glides that wide of point for a single. And that will be the game! Winning runs off the bat of Oshada and he has played a quick-fire innings here to finish proceedings! A terrific win for Sri Lanka and boy, they have surely been the better side today! After bowling out Bangladesh courtesy of a fiery spell from Asitha, they have cruised to a massive 10-wicket win to promote themselves above Pakistan in the race for the ICC WTC 2023.
2.5 Ebadot Hossain to Dimuth Karunaratne, short delivery sprayed down the leg side, Rahim leaps and gets a glove on it. The ball rolls towards long leg as the batters scamper through for a single. Scores level!
2.4 Ebadot Hossain to Dimuth Karunaratne, no run, length ball on the middle stump line, Karunaratne gets onto his toes and taps that towards mid-wicket.
2.3 Ebadot Hossain to Dimuth Karunaratne, no run, full ball but it is far too outside off to elicit any interest from the Karunaratne. Swung away and finished almost past the track.
2.2 Ebadot Hossain to Dimuth Karunaratne, no run, length ball on the off stump line, jags away sharply and beats the outside edge of Karunaratne by quite a distance.
