Thanks a lot for joining us - Pragadeesh and Mohul - for this exciting yet one-sided rain-affected game from Chattogram. Bangladesh have gone 1-0 up in the series. Until next time, goodbye and goodnight!
Najmul Hossain Shanto (Bangladesh captain): It was a good game for us overall, and especially good batting from Hridoy and Tanzid. They took the game till the end and won it for us. The bowlers did a fantastic job as well. The rain and the start-and-stop nature of the game is not something we can control, so we do not want to think much about it. We will control only what we can control.
Taskin Ahmed (Player of the Match): It was a great game for us. We just tried to do our basics right today, and luckily everything fell in place. I am feeling good now, and hopefully, this will continue. All the boys did extremely well today. I am happy with the way we went about things.
Sikandar Raza (Zimbabwe captain): Hopefully, we will improve after this game and finish the tour on a high. We need to practice more under lights as we do not get the chance to do so much. Our players showed a lot of intent and hunger, but full credit to Bangladesh. All of us need to take up responsibility for this defeat.
Bangladesh beat Zimbabwe by 8 wickets!
Tanzid Hasan Tamim 67* (47) | Taskin Ahmed 3-14 Clive Madande 43 (39) | Mohammad Saifuddin 3-15
Although the fall of Litton Das and Najmul Hossain Shanto gave Bangladesh a few early setbacks in this innings, the young duo of Tanzid Hasan Tamim and Towhid Hridoy batted beautifully to see them through.
Zimbabwe will be extremely disappointed with the way they fielded given that Tanzid got so many chances en route to a half-century on debut.
Their bowlers did well in the beginning, but once the powerplay came to an end, it appeared as if they could not quite bowl in the right areas.
Skipper Sikandar Raza will be extremely disappointed with the way this game transpired for his team, at first with the bat and then on the field.
If not for Wellington Masakadza and Clive Madande's partnership, Zimbabwe would have folded up for less than 100, and that is not an enticing prospect by any means.
Bangladesh will be very pleased with the victory that they got here in the first T20I game in Chattogram of the five-match series.
And that will be that!
15.2 Luke Jongwe to Tanzid Hasan, FOUR! Tanzid seals it in style and Bangladesh go 1-0 up in the series. Short of a length outside off-stump, Tanzid slaps it past mid-off for a boundary
15.1 Luke Jongwe to Tanzid Hasan, back of a length outside off, Tanzid mistimes his punch to short extra cover
Luke Jongwe [1-0-10-1] is back into the attack.
Bangladesh are almost there. Tanzid and Towhid need to make sure that they do not take too long to get this over with. Zimbabwe are nowhere close.
