And breathe. Cricket was the real winner in this contest as the momentum swung one way and then the other. Despite the loss, Baroda can be pleased with how they fought throughout that game and responded after multiple setbacks. As for Gujarat, it got a little to close for their liking in the end but the win is all that matters at this stage of the tournament as they look to build from stride to stride. Both sides produced a fascinating game of cricket, which was thoroughly enjoyable as a neutral. That's the magic of the SMAT, no?

What drama. What tension. What a game! Ambati Rayudu and some of the Baroda players are on their haunches. They were so close to pulling off something spectacular but it's been taken away from them, right at the death. Relief in the Gujarat dressing room. They were made to work hard for that win with Baroda not giving in right till the very end.

Chasing what looked like an underpar total, the Gujarat side got off to a flying start in the first 8 overs with Priyank Panchal leading the way from the front alongside Urvil Patel. The Baroda side did manage to pull things back in the middle overs but the crucial moment in the game was the dismissal of Panchal. Varun Aaron delivered the double whammy to allow his side back into the game.

What seemed like a straightforward chase at that point quickly turned into a dogfight between the two sides with neither giving much away. A lot of credit goes to Baroda for taking this game as deep as they did, almost defending 2 runs off the final over. Ninad almost pulled a rabbit out of the hat to give his side a memorable win but Roosh Kalaria emerged as the hero for Gujarat, striking a boundary off the final ball to give them the four points.
