Urvil Patel

Urvil Patel is an Indian cricketer associated with the Gujarat Titans in the IPL. The wicketkeeper-batter was born on October 17, 1998, in Mehsana, Gujarat, and has represented his state in domestic cricket along with Baroda, another team of the state.

Urvil Patel made his domestic debut in the 2018 Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy and made appearances in the Vijay Hazare in 2018 and Ranji Trophy in 2024.

A big milestone in Urvil’s career came in the 2023 IPL when Gujarat Titans, the IPL team representing his state, signed him for Rs 20 lakh.

Wicketkeeper-batsman Urvil Patel, who hails from Gujarat, started his Domestic cricket career in 2018 with the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy where he represented his state team Baroda.

In his debut match, Urvil Patel scored a quick 50 runs in 28 balls as an opening batsman at a strike rate of 178.57 and impressed everyone with his batting prowess in this format.

Within a month, Urvil Patel debuted for Baroda against Karnataka in the Vijay Hazare Trophy on February 7, 2018, and started his career in both the white-ball formats at the domestic level.

Despite making his domestic debut in the T20 and ODI formats within a month, Urvil Patel had to wait for a long 6 years to make his debut in first-class cricket.

Before making his debut in the biggest domestic tournament Ranji Trophy, Urvil Patel reached another milestone when he was signed by Gujarat Titans, the team representing his state, for the 2023 IPL at a base price of INR 20 lakh.

Although Urvel Patel has not played a single IPL match so far, he is associated with one of the most successful teams of this tournament Gujarat Titans.

Urvil Patel Domestic Career

Urvil Patel started his domestic career on January 7, 2018, in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, which is a T20 tournament. In his very first match, Urvil Patel impressed everyone with his strong batting. He played an innings of 50 runs with the help of 7 fours and two sixes in 28 balls as an opening batsman for Baroda and was also the third-highest run scorer for Baroda in that season. Urvil Patel has played a total of 41 domestic T20 matches so far, in which he has scored 847 runs at an average of 21.5.

Just a month after his Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy debut, Urvil Patel also made his debut in the List A cricket. He made his debut in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, which is a List A tournament, on 7 February 2018.

Urvil scored an unbeaten 10 off 21 balls in his first Vijay Hazare Trophy match.

Urvil Patel struggled for a long time in this format and for many years his batting did not show the depth that was seen in the T20 format. In the 2023 Vijay Hazare Trophy, Urvil Patel made a brilliant comeback and scored 311 runs in just four matches at an average of 103.66, in which two centuries and a half-century came from his bat and Urvil was also the highest run-scorer for Gujarat.

Urvil Patel has played 14 List A matches so far in which he has scored 415 runs at an average of 41.50. Due to his good performance in the Vijay Hazare Trophy in 2023, Gujarat gave Urvil Patel a chance in the Ranji Trophy match against Tamil Nadu in 2024. Urvil could not do anything special in his first Ranji match and was able to score only 14 runs, after which Gujarat allowed him to participate in two more matches but Patel could not even match the score of his first match in his remaining two matches.

Due to his consistent performance at the domestic level, Urvir Patel was signed by Gujarat Titans for INR 20 lakh in the 2023 IPL, although Urvil has not played a single IPL match so far.
