One pitch over from the other night - 63 meters on one side, 70 meters on the other. The straight hit is 74 meters long. The pitch does look really good. There was quite a lot of dew yesterday. There are some patches where there's not a lot of grass - the ball was gripping a bit and that's something the captains have to be wary of. Off-pace deliveries will work for the seamers. It's not a 200+ wicket - tonight's going to be a battle of attrition. Around 170 is a bowl of rice but if you want some curry on the side as well, you want 185.

11:40 PM IST: That brings us to the end of the contest between CSK and RCB and change in fortunes for RCB at Chepauk. They win here for the first time in 17 years and takes all the momentum to their next game. Meanwhile CSK was literally blown away today and was behind the eight ball for the majority of the game. The win will give a lot of confidence to RCB while CSK have a few things to ponder on. The IPL carnival continues tomorrow with Mumbai Indians slated to square off against the Gujarat Titans in the 9th match of the competition. Do join us at 6:30 PM sharp for the pre match with the match starting at 7:30 PM. Up until then, this is the pair of Arya Sekhar Chakraborty and Darpan Tikiya biding adieu. Good night folks.
Rajat Patidar is the RCB captain and also the Player of the Match: I think it was a good total on this surface. It wasn't easy for the batters to hit boundaries and sixes easily. It's always special playing at Chepauk. The way they support the team is great. It's always amazing to play in their home ground as they support every team. We were targetting around 200 runs. We knew it wasn't easy to chase. My goal was clear, as long as I was there I need to maximize every bowler. I don't think so, it was the same line up like the previous game so it was same. This track was pretty much helpful, I knew I could use my spinners earlier. The way Livingstone came and bowled it was superb. It was amazing to see how Hazlewood and Bhuvi bowled in the hard lengths.
Josh Hazlewood gets the award for bowling most dot balls in the match.
Rachin Ravindra gets the award for hitting most fours in the match.
Rajat Patidar gets the award for hitting most sixes.
Josh Hazlewood gets the award for garnering most fantasy points.
Phil Salt gets the award for the best strike rate in the match (minimum 10 balls).
Time for the post match presentation ceremony.
Josh Hazlewood (Royal Challengers Bengaluru): "As a group tonight, I thought we were outstanding. Great mix of pace and spin and we executed our plans nicely. With this wicket here, you get a bit of an up and down bounce. I was trying to hit that 8-10m length. Me and Bhuvi (Bhuvneshwar Kumar) are a bit different. With me, it is more of seam, with him it is more of spin. Whenever, you get injured, it can be frustrating, but it is about how you use time off. A couple of months in the gym help. We exhibited good energy in the field. Yash Dayal's changes of pace were great today. Having a left-armer helps."
Ruturaj Gaikwad (Chennai Super Kings captain): "To be honest, I feel 170 was the par score on this wicket. It was tough to bat. The dropped catches cost us. When you are chasing 170, you bat a bit differently. But 20 runs extra make a difference to your approach. It was a bit sticky in the second innings. Rahul Tripathi backed his shot. So did I. When you are chasing 20 runs extra, you want to play your shots. But sometimes it does not come off. But in the end, I am happy we lost only by a few runs. We dropped catches at crucial time. They kept going, boundaries kept on coming. The momentum kept on going towards them. We don't have a lot of time before the next game. A long flight to Guwahati ahead."
