He could just manage 71 runs in four innings at a strike rate of 114.52 in the Indian leg of the season and was subsequently benched for the team's remaining matches in IPL 2021. Patidar was released by the franchise ahead of the IPL 2022 auction along with many players from the squad. He went unsold in the mega auction of IPL 2022.
However, an injury to Karnataka wicketkeeper-batter Luvnith Sisodia opened the gates for Patidar at RCB for his second stint. Patidar ensured to make the best out of the second chance as he piled up 333 runs in just seven innings, striking at 152.75.

It was reported that Rajat had postponed his marriage date to join RCB in the middle of the season in Mumbai.

Rajat Patidar's heel injury kept him out of the 2023 Indian Premier League. He did not participate in any matches for the Bengaluru Royal Challengers.
