Somerset's winning streak is finally over. They had things under control and were in a cruise position to secure a 8th straight win but what unfolded after Dickson's wicket was some high-quality bowling from the Hawks. Well, the slow deliveries into the surface turned out to be the go-to-ball in the first innings and the Hawks' pacers used a similar tactic to inflict Somerset's first defeat
The visitors got off to a flying start as Banton and Smeed were going after the bowlers. It was raining boundaries and sixes inside the powerplay. When it looked things were slipping away from Hawks' control, Dawson removed Banton but they couldn't control the run-flow as Cadmore joined hands with Smeed to stitch a fantastic partnership
Smeed reaches his half-century but Crane got rid of him before Dickson's leg stump was flattened by Turner. Then, Lammonby's arrival slowed things down for Somerset and it allowed the Hawks to sense an opportunity for a comeback. He struggled to time the ball and that increased the burden on Cadmore further.
The hopes were pinned on Cadmore to steer Somerset to the finish line. He played some powerful shots, much to the frustration of the fans inside Rose Bowl, but eventually, he was done by Turner's pace and bounce. Soon after, Ellis bowled a brilliant penultimate over and Currie backed himself to defend 19 runs in the last over
