A thriller that ebbed and flowed but in the end, Uttar Pradesh have come out on top by a 2-wicket margin to confine Mumbai to their first defeat of the season. Karan Sharma (67*) was the star as he dug in for a long innings despite retiring hurt initially and ensured that he was there until the end even as wickets fell at regular intervals. Tanush Kotian snared a five-wicket haul but unfortunately for Mumbai, who were without their injured skipper Ajinkya Rahane on the field, it wasn't enough. After three draws and just five points in their kitty, Uttar Pradesh desperately needed this win and it now vaults them to fourth spot in Group B. Mumbai remain up top, five points clear of second-placed Andhra.

In an astonishing comeback, Mumbai have put themselves on track to pull off a famous win having ended Day 3 against Uttar Pradesh on 303/8. Shivam Dube was the star as he blitzed 117 off 130 deliveries with seven maximums while Shams Mulani (59) continued to remain an able lower-order ally. It's all the more remarkable when you fancy that the hosts were 86/6 at one stage and staring down the barrel of an innings defeat. Mohit Avasthi is currently batting on 34 and he will be buoyed when he takes the red cherry in hand if he can stretch this lead past 200 first up tomorrow.
