Sikandar Raza (Player of the Match): It was a good outing. I thought we were 10-15 runs short. I found it a bit difficult to get going and nice to be proved wrong. We have got a very good attack with five spinners. To have a team with so many all-rounders. Let everybody make it official. I have been asked to lead the team. I don't think I have to change much because those 15-18 guys, everyone is so professional and hopefully we can win the tournament today.
St Lucia Kings won by 54 runs
Faf du Plessis 57(36) | Khary Pierre 4/20(3.5) Kieron Pollard 34(15) | Andre Russell 2/28(3)
That was a thoroughly convincing performance from the St Lucia Kings as they registered a comfortable 54-run victory. The Trinbago Knight Riders were scoring briskly, but none of the batters showed any responsibility and kept throwing away their wickets. Mark Deyal started off with a series of sixes while they lost Martin Guptill and Chadwick Walton in quick succession.
Nicholas Pooran who has been in the form of his life fell prey to the plan and ended up smashing a length delivery from Roston Chase straight down the throat of the long-off fielder. Kieron Pollard looked in blistering touch during his brief stay. He smashed 3 fours and as many sixes en route to 34 off 15 deliveries.
From there on, it was a procession from the TKR lower order. Khary Pierre and Roston Chase bowled superbly, bagging 4 and 2 respectively while Sikandar Raza was adjudged the Player or the match with a couple of wickets an an important knock. In the end, it turned out to be a rather lop-sided contest.
14.5 Khary Pierre to Ali Khan, WICKET! That should be the end of this contest. Ali Khan has gone for the review but it looked pretty adjacent. Angling in with the arm, a bit quicker, Ali Khan gets down on one knee and goes for the slog sweep. Strikes him on the back leg. The only question would he the bounce. Looks very adjacent and now off to the replays. Pitching in line, impact in line and wickets umpire's call as St Lucia Kings win by 54 runs.
14.4 Khary Pierre to Jaden Carmichael, that has been sliced off the outside half of the bat, was a tossed up delivery around middle and falls just short of the long-off fielder, a single taken.
14.3 Khary Pierre to Jaden Carmichael, again a full one around middle and off, driven back to the bowler by Carmichael.
14.2 Khary Pierre to Jaden Carmichael, fuller around off, defended solidly by Carmichael.
14.1 Khary Pierre to Jaden Carmichael, flatter and quicker around off, Carmichael goes for the cut but gets beaten.
