As an opening batsman for New Zealand, Martin Guptill has had a lot of chances to be a record holder for his team. Martin’s most iconic record is that he is the only New Zealand player to have a 200+ score in One Day Internationals. His score of 237 has also made him the highest individual scorer for New Zealand till date.
Also, Martin Guptill holds the record for scoring the most runs (237) and remains unbeaten throughout the innings in a limited-overs match. Martin Guptill also remains one of the only two New Zealand players to have scored a century against 9 different Test playing nations, alongside Ross Taylor.

Martin Guptill played his first One Day International (ODI) match in Auckland against the West Indies on January 10, 2009,. He became the first player from New Zealand to score a century in an ODI. His 122 runs not out is the highest debut score for New Zealand in an ODI and the second-highest debut score ever.
He was also the first player from New Zealand to carry the bat for the entire duration of an ODI innings. In the first Test in Hamilton in March 2009, he played his Test cricket debut against India, scoring 14 and 48 runs respectively. The ICC included him in the World ODI XI for his 2009 efforts. The One Day International debut for Martin Guptill came on 10 January, 2009, against West Indies at Auckland where he scored 122 runs off 135 balls, becoming the first New Zealand player to score a century on his debut. However, the match ended in a no-result, as it was interrupted by rain.
During the 2013 New Zealand tour of England, Guptill recorded the greatest score by a New Zealander in an ODI at the time, with back-to-back unbeaten hundreds at Lord's and Southampton (189 not out). He also contributed to the fifth-highest team total in ODI history at the time (359).
In the quarterfinals of the 2015 World Cup, Guptill outperformed himself by hitting an undefeated 237 from 163 balls against the West Indies at the Westpac Stadium in Wellington. Martin Guptill Under-19 Career
At the young age of 14, Guptill was involved in a forklift accident that left him without three toes on his foot. But Guptill moved on from the experience and began developing his talents, which ultimately made it possible for him to be featured in the New Zealand squad for the U-19 World Cup in Sri Lanka.
Guptill initially garnered attention in the 2007–08 campaign, after topping the State Shied run records.
