So, in overcast conditions in Edinburgh, we come to the end of our coverage for today. But we will be right back to join you for the 3rd and final T20I of the series to see who wins it and what the score-line looks like in the end. Till then, this is the pair of Rudransh and Bidipto taking your leave. Keep following Sportskeeda!
Mitchell Marsh (Australia captain): I think it was a really good game of cricket from us! Josh Inglis made it look easy in tough conditions. We have a young-ish group here, so it's about grabbing opportunities and making them count. Can't say much about changes for tomorrow right now, but we look forward to a chance of winning the series 3-0!
Richie Berrington (Scotland captain): I think the partnership between Josh Inglis and Cameron Green made all the difference for both them and us, Josh of course played an excellent innings! We came back really well with the ball later on in the 1st innings, so there were a few positives to take away for tomorrow.
Josh Inglis is the Player of the Match for his stunning 103 (49), here's what he has to say: Pretty special to be honest. I didn't know about the fastest-hundred record until you told me. (On playing like he was on a different pitch) It doesn't happen too often. It got easier with the old ball and I tried to play my shots. It's a really good opportunity for me to get some game time and try and cement my position. It's really tough because there are so many good players.
Australia win by 70 runs with 20 balls to spare and take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series!
Scotland had to do two things to win this match - keep the run rate abreast with the asking rate and keep wickets in hand. In the end, they could do neither!
George Munsey began the innings with a 17-run over and gave the whole of Scotland a lot of hope. But the very next over changed things! After that, it was only Brandon McMullen who showed character and stepped up to the challenge.
He played some wonderful shots on both sides of the wicket, as well as, straight, to pick up his 2nd T20I fifty against Australia. With 4 fours and 4 sixes, he scored a nice 59 off 42 balls. But his dismissal at just the wrong time killed the game then and there.
No other batter was able to reach even double digits! In fact, extras have turned out to be the third highest scorer after McMullen and Munsey!
As for Australia, all of the six bowlers used were among the wickets. Marcus Stoinis managed to take 4 wickets and Cameron Green got rid of two batters in two consecutive deliveries to be on a hat-trick. But on the whole, it was a pretty convincing bowling performance from the Aussies, to back up Josh Inglis' superb batting effort!
16.4 Marcus Stoinis to Chris Greaves, CAUGHT! Scotland collapse for 126. Full and going down the leg, looks to sit down and slog the sweep over deep square leg. But it goes finer and deep fine leg takes it on his chest. Australia take a 2-0 lead in the series!
Chris Greaves c Aaron Hardie b Marcus Stoinis 6 (6b, 1x4, 0x6)
16.3 Marcus Stoinis to Bradley Currie, length ball on off, turned to covers
Bradley Currie, RHB, is at the crease.
Right, so Stoinis has a chance now to pick up four wickets in the innings. He will have the number 11 to bowl to here, so the chance is very much there!
16.2 Marcus Stoinis to Brad Wheal, OUT! CAUGHT! Sharp length ball on middle and off, looks to clip it away to deep mid-wicket but loses his balance gets a thick leading edge that is gobbled easily by covers
Brad Wheal c Xavier Bartlett b Marcus Stoinis 5 (8b, 0x4, 0x6)
16.1 Marcus Stoinis to Brad Wheal, length ball on middle and off, pulls it down to mid-wicket
